Hada Labo Embark on an Urban Planting Initiative at UPSI

Entering its Fifth Year, Hada Labo ‘Sending Love & Care to the Nature’ 2024 Raised RM50,000.00 to Embark on an Urban Planting Initiative at UPSI. Hada Labo collaborates with the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) and Watsons Malaysia. This year, Hada Labo is expanding its commitment to environmental stewardship by embarking on an urban planting initiative at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), in Tanjong Malim, Perak. This project aims to enhance the campus by improving air quality and sustainability, while also promoting biodiversity and mitigating heat.

As part of the initiative, 1,500 Kelat Paya (Syzygium myrtifolium) trees will be planted along a walkway stretch by the lake, to enhance the campus’s surrounding landscape. These trees will contribute to a cleaner, cooler environment, and enhance air quality by filtering pollutants.

Rohto-Mentholatum Malaysia’s General Manager, Lim Mei Yuen, shared, “As Hada Labo continues to make significant strides in preserving the environment, our hope for this year's project is to demonstrate how urban spaces can integrate green practices and inspire sustainable habits among students and the broader community.”

“The newly added green spaces will provide a healthier and more pleasant campus experience while contributing to broader environmental goals.” she added.

The Vice President of MNS, Mr Ayadurai Letchumanan said, “This initiative is a significant step towards fostering a more sustainable and resilient community by mitigating climate change impacts, reducing urban heat and improving air quality.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Dean of Industry Network and Commercialisation, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UPSI, Dr. Fatimah Azzahra binti Ahmad Rashid has expressed appreciation for Hada Labo’s dedication to environmental conservation, noting its significant contribution to the university community.

“As UPSI serves as a hub for nurturing future educators, we view this initiative as an invaluable opportunity for our students to embrace the importance of preserving our environment, which they can instil in future generations,” she said.

The initiative is supported by a RM50,000 donation from Hada Labo, raised through the sale of Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion at Watsons Malaysia. The lotion comes into two versions i.e Rich - tailored for normal/dry and sensitive skin and Light - tailored for oily/acne prone and sensitive skin. Both lotions come in fully recyclable bottles, exemplifying the brand's eco-conscious philosophy of "no more, no less."

The urban tree planting event saw active participation from Hada Labo and Watsons employees, university students, and facilitators, all contributing to the transformation of UPSI’s walkways into vibrant green corridors.

Guided by its 'Perfect x Simple' philosophy, Hada Labo remains committed to creating a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations, having planted 5,400 trees since the initiative's launch in 2020.
