Partnerships and Mental Health Support

This year’s campaign continues its partnerships with key mental health organisations such as the Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA), Befrienders KL, Mental Illness Awareness Support Association (MIASA), and Nyawa. Joining the initiative this year is Taylor’s University’s Mental Health and Well-being Impact Lab, lending their expertise through podcast sessions and consultations.

The sale of the signature Suria Ribbon Pin will continue, with proceeds supporting mental health initiatives of partner NGOs. The pin is available at RM10 each at the Concierge.

Digital-First Approach to Raising Awareness

With a strong focus on leveraging the digital space, the #BeKindOnline campaign will feature content-driven initiatives led by influencers and key personalities. These voices will engage with the public on social media, sharing personal stories, expert insights, and strategies to combat cyberbullying.

The campaign's content will be spread widely across platforms to maximise reach, making use of bite-sized videos, podcast snippets, and online discussions that raise awareness of this growing social phenomenon.

Interactive On-Ground Experience at Suria KLCC

While much of the campaign thrives online, the physical centerpiece can be found at the Park Mall entrance of Suria KLCC. As shoppers enter, they are greeted by the campaign’s highlight—a one-ofa-kind Multifunctional Safe Space. This interactive space hosts live podcast recordings and serves as a consultation area with mental health professionals, offering visitors practical tools and expert advice on navigating the challenges of cyberbullying.

• Chat: Live podcast recordings feature discussions with experts from NGOs, influencers, and cyberbullying survivors. These sessions, including Fahmi's discussion on regulations, will be broadcast across social media platforms, reaching a wide audience with bite-sized content.

• Consult: The space doubles as a consultation room where mental health professionals from partner NGOs offer free clinics, workshops, and expert advice on various aspects of cyberbullying. Visitors will gain practical tools and strategies to manage online harassment and its impact on mental health.

Visitors can also engage with an interactive digital kindness wall, where they can select messages of positivity. These curated affirmative words will help ensure safe and supportive content is shared, promoting the anti-cyberbullying cause. At the end of the interaction, visitors are encouraged to snap a picture of their chosen words and share it on Instagram, joining the #BeKindOnline movement.

Francis Tan, CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, emphasised the importance of addressing cyberbullying: “In this digital age, our words hold unprecedented power. They can uplift, or they can wound deeply. #BeKindOnline goes beyond just creating mere awareness; Suria KLCC aims to offer tangible solutions and support for those impacted by cyberbullying, ensuring no one faces this challenge alone.”

Suria KLCC also proudly announces its recognition as the Platinum Winner of the PPK Malaysia 'Best Experiential Marketing' Awards 2023-2024. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the success of the first mental health awareness campaign, which previously won gold for 2020-2022. Achieving Platinum now underscores Suria KLCC’s commitment to continuously elevating its efforts and its dedication to making a lasting impact on the community.

Mesra Mall’s SMILE project

Mesra Mall, in collaboration with the Psychiatry Department of Hospital Kemaman and MENTARI Balok, is running its mental health awareness campaign from 8 to 12 October. Held at the Centre Court, this campaign offers a safe space for raising awareness and provides practical tools for enhancing mental well-being.

The first 60 participants to complete all activities organised by MENTARI and the hospital's team will receive a Green Ribbon Pin, a symbol of solidarity with those facing mental health challenges. The activities include:

• Workshop and Skill-Building Sessions

These sessions focus on stress management, self-care, mindfulness, and resilience-building.

• Art Therapy or Creative Expression Workshop

Attendees can explore their emotions through art therapy and creative expression, allowing a therapeutic outlet for individuals coping with mental health issues.

• Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop

Workshops on mindfulness meditation and relaxation techniques help participants reduce anxiety and cultivate self-awareness for improved mental health.

Mesra Mall is hosting a community wellness fair featuring booths and activities that promote healthy living and mental wellness, as well as resources on stress management, mindfulness practices, and access to mental health services.

In an effort to spread joy, there is a workshop where participants can paint and decorate rocks with smiley faces to be placed in public spaces. This activity promotes creativity, a sense of belonging to the community, and a shared purpose in bringing joy to others.
