Here are 6 health screening tests every woman should consider:

1. Breast Exam

A regular breast exam is vital for early detection of breast cancer. It's recommended to perform a self-exam monthly and schedule a clinical breast exam with your doctor annually.  Women's health screening differs from men's health screening due to the unique physiological and reproductive differences between the sexes. Women face specific health risks, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and osteoporosis, that require specialized screening procedures.

Common women's health screenings such as clinical breast exams by a healthcare provider are recommended annually for women of all ages. Mammograms are X-rays of the breast used to detect breast cancer, starting at age 40, women should get mammograms every year.

2. Pap Smear

A Pap smear is a simple procedure to screen for cervical cancer. It involves collecting cells from the cervix for examination under a microscope. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends starting Pap smears at age 21 and continuing every 3 years until age 65.

3. Pelvic Exam

A pelvic exam is a routine part of women's healthcare. It involves examining the external genitalia, vagina, cervix, uterus, and ovaries. It's important to schedule regular pelvic exams with your doctor.

4. Bone Density Scan

Osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones, is more common in women. A bone density scan can help assess your risk of developing osteoporosis and determine if you need treatment.

5. Cholesterol Test

High cholesterol levels can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. A cholesterol test measures the amount of cholesterol in your blood. It's recommended to get your cholesterol checked regularly.

6. Cervical Cancer Screening

In addition to Pap smears, cervical cancer screening can also include HPV testing. HPV (human papillomavirus) is a sexually transmitted infection that can lead to cervical cancer. HPV testing can help identify women at high risk for cervical cancer.

Many healthcare providers in Malaysia offer comprehensive women's health screening packages in Malaysia that include these and other essential tests. These packages can provide convenience and cost-effectiveness.

Remember to consult with your healthcare provider to determine the most appropriate screening schedule for your individual needs. Early detection and prevention are key to maintaining optimal women's health.
