Sofia Sacoor, the visionary mind behind SÜ1, embarked on a series of impactful engagements to raise awareness about Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and SÜ1’s mission to help children and adolescents with this condition.

The Portuguese athleisure brand made its debut in Malaysia with the launch of a special pop-up at Sunway Pyramid from March 23-25, whereby the proceeds from the pop-up was donated to support children with T1D in the paediatric wing at Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City.

Joined by Salim Sacoor, co-founder and board member of Sacoor Brothers, the session provided invaluable insights and practical tips on entrepreneurship to eager students. Dr Jason Cheok, Director of Programme at Victoria University, Sunway College, warmly welcomed the attendees, setting the tone for an enlightening discussion.

Following the engaging session at Sunway College, Sofia graced the SÜ1 pop-up at Sunway Pyramid LG2, Central Avenue. The pop-up showcased SÜ1's latest collection of athleisure wear, including hoodies, t-shirts, sweatpants, sweaters, and shorts. Here, Sofia engaged with shoppers and the media to provide further insights about her personal journey and SÜ1's mission. She also thanked them for playing a part in spreading awareness of T1D and SÜ1's initiative.

Sofia passed the contribution to Sunway Medical Centre's representatives, Dr Seow Vei Ken, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Medical Centre, Dr Ch'ng Tong Wooi, Paediatric Endocrinologist and Dr Ng Lee Li, General Manager of Women and Child Services.
The heartfelt donation will go towards establishing a dedicated fund supporting children and adolescents in Malaysia managing T1D. Engaging in a candid networking session with the medical professionals, Sofia passionately discussed her journey and the envisioned impact of SÜ1, highlighting the transformative power of collective action in fostering positive change.
