A Hometown Reunion @ The Gardens Mall

Let's take a step back in time to Malaysia in the 1970s and immerse in Hometown Reunion at The Gardens Mall this Chinese New Year from now until 12th February, 2024. When ladies made trips to the local morning market in cotton cheongsams and when the monophonic music of Teresa Teng could be heard on your mother’s radio when you got home from school.

A Hometown Reunion @ The Gardens Mall 

This Chinese New Year, allow the mall’s retro decor to fill you with nostalgia. Take the opportunity to snap photos with your loved ones at the various photo spots along the mall’s Ground Floor. There is a traditional medical hall where you go to buy nourishing herbs from and a tailor store for your New Year’s outfits. Step inside a living room with a retro television set with black and white family photos hanging tidily on the wall, and you can even have a seat at the local kopitiam.

Shoppers who wish to take home a little bit of the nostalgia can drop by the Childhood booth on the Ground Floor to purchase some local snacks, toys, and beauty products. If Chinese New Year spring cleaning has got you worn out, head over to the Tempur roadshow in front of Isetan and let their team find you the right mattress and bed for a restful night.

Performance Schedule

Soar into the Year of the Dragon with an exciting lineup of performances this year! The Year of the Dragon wouldn’t be complete without a dragon dance happening every Saturday. Catch the crowd-favourite; the acrobatic lion dance and watch the lions perform twists and leaps on 10ft tall poles. But if soothing sounds and graceful moves are what you look forward to, don’t miss out on the musical performances happening every weekend!

Wishing Tree & Wishing Well

Receive a wishing coin and wishing tag when you donate RM5 to the Beautiful Gate Foundation at the mall this Chinese New Year! Shoppers may write their wishes for the new year and hang their tag up on the mall’s Wishing Tree of Harmony. Donors may also toss their wishing coin into the Wishing Well of Hope located right beside the Beautiful Gate Foundation station. Representatives from the organisation will also be present daily to sell Beautiful Gate Foundation’s merchandise such as pouches, bags, and wire craft decorations, all handmade by Beautiful Gate Foundation’s own differently-abled residents.
