Visit the Dunes in the Oldest Desert in the World

The Namib Desert in Namibia is thought to be the oldest in the world, at over 55 million years old. A visit to Namibia would not be complete without a visit to the Namib Desert, since it has some of the highest dunes in the world

The most popular dune is called the Big Daddy, located between Deadvlei and Sossusvlei. It stands at over 1066 feet (324.92 m), and makes other surrounding dunes look like dwarfs next to it. It provides climbers with the ultimate climbing challenge due to the sandy surface.

You will need lots of water and a few hours to reach the top, but the payoff is well worth it because you get a magnificent view of the surrounding area that you would not get any other way.

Go on a Game Drive

As with many other countries in Africa, Namibia is a prime safari destination. You can visit numerous areas to watch different animals in their natural habitats, but you should start with the Etosha National Park.

It is popular due to its large population of huge elephants, lion prides, and black and white rhinos. The only animal among the big five you will not find here is the buffalo.

There are also private reserves for those who want an exclusive safari experience. Some areas can be quite rugged, so you should look into 4x4 rentals in Namibia to find a vehicle that will get you to where you need to go and back. These private reserves also provide luxury lodges and professional guides to enhance your experience.

Fly Over the Namib Desert

If you are not a fan of walking in the hot desert but still want to experience its vastness, you can fly over it. You can enjoy open, unpolluted skies that seem to go on forever. You can book a hot air balloon adventure over Sossusvlei, where you can enjoy the changing lights in the sky, and different colors and patterns.

If the eerie silence of a hot air balloon is not for you, you can also take a flight from Swakopmund, fly over the Skeleton coast, see the desert over Sossusvlei and then fly back. Some flights also take you over Victoria Falls, which is not technically in Namibia. However, it is still a mesmerizing sight that everyone should experience because it is part of the Seven Natural Wonders Of The World.

Lastly, you can also do tandem skydiving from 10,000 feet, or go paragliding at Swakopmund.

Visit the Expansive Fish River Canyon

The Fish River Canyon is the second-largest canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon of the USA. This canyon is located in Southern Namibia and is one of the most visited attractions in the country. You need to know a few things if you decide to visit this tourist attraction.

First, it is a long drive to get there, so you should get a comfortable vehicle capable of traversing the distance, such as 4x4 rentals in Namibia. Second, you should visit at sunrise to get the best views. Third, you do not have to hike to get the best views, although it allows you to experience its beauty from different viewpoints and vantage points.

Namibia is a beautiful country with lots to see and do. Most of them are natural wonders that have existed for millions of years, while others are expansive wildernesses that let you experience wildlife in its natural habitat.
