Elephant World Adventure! Had a wonderful time in Surin Elephant Village, located in Ban Ta Klang, Tambon Krapho. In Ban Ta Klang elephants are like friends, strong bond between humans and elephants. The villagers of Ban Ta Klang are Suai or Kui, who are skilled in catching wild elephants, training, and raising them.

The oldest elephant village more than 400 years old, which was an abandoned forest reserve. Bricks were made with the dirt dug up to make an artificial pond. The village area is paddy and grove interspersed with sparse forest, which is ideal for rearing elephants.

The elephants are free to roam around the forest and some even stay by side of the villagers’ houses. We get to experience the way of Sui raise and train their elephants, the livelihood of the Suai people and get to talk to the veterinarian who has experience about elephants.
