Cool Things to See and Do in Bangkok

If you are planning a holiday in Thailand, make sure you put aside at least one week for the City of Angels (Kreung Thep), which is a unique metropolis with so much to offer the tourist. Nowhere else in the world would you find an ancient Buddhist temple next to a 21st-century skyscraper, while the city has a huge network of canals.

Here are a few cool things to see and do while you are enjoying Bangkok.

 Do a rooftop bar crawl – There are some really chic rooftop bars in Bangkok; the Vertigo Bar on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree, the Sky Bar at Lebua State Tower, Octave Rooftop Bar on the roof of the Marriott Hotel, Sukhumvit, and the Hi-So Rooftop Bar in the Sofitel Hotel.  Explore the Bangkok canals – If you are the adventurous type, why not spend a day exploring the canals by riding on the water taxis? As you wind your way down the canals, you will see how the Thais live and nothing else comes close to this!

 Enjoy Thai massage – The best Sukhumvit massage in Bangkok is very invigorating; they offer a range of massage packages, with facial, full-body and Thai oil massage. No one knows massage better than the Thais and you can enjoy a daily massage at any of the many massage places.

 Visit Patpong Museum – Discover how the hottest red-light district in Bangkok arose from rice paddy fields way back in the 1960s. This museum is full of artefacts from the 60s and 70s, while you can play some original games.

 Check out Jatuchak Weekend Market – This is most definitely the best place to buy your souvenirs; they sell everything from puppies to teak furniture and everything in between. Prices are cheap when compared to the West and you can barter with the vendors. The market is so large, you won’t see everything in one day; just remember it only opens at the weekend; there is an air-conditioned section, but the majority is outdoors.  Watch Muay Thai – There are two main Muay Thai arenas, Rajdamnuen and Lumphini Stadium, where you can watch crazy bouts in a unique atmosphere. You can find out about dates and times on the Internet, plus you can book your seats online to avoid disappointment, as these cards are very popular. 

 Ride in a Tuk-Tuk – You can’t visit Bangkok and not take a ride in a Tuk-Tuk; these crazy 3-wheel vehicles are amazing and be careful when cornering! The driver will be happy to take you where you want to go and it is around the same cost as a taxi.
