These are the proudly homegrown artisans, remarkable women-led businesses and communities that have resiliently rebuilt their businesses amidst uncertain economic times over the past 3 years.

The award ceremony was held on 16 May 2023 at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, was officiated by YB Dato' Sri Hajah Nancy binti Haji Shukri, Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development. Her presence at the event aimed to further strengthen the drive for women's empowerment and equality in the Malaysian entrepreneurial scene, where the potential of women-led businesses has yet to be fully tapped.
The award ceremony is part of PPA’s Empowering Women and Communities 2023 campaign, a year-long initiative that aims to promote and celebrate handcrafted products made by women artisans.
The 14 awards winners local women-led businesses are: Helping Hands Penan Bhd, The Asli Co., Gocheeks, Cherita Chocolate, Tudung Saji Che Ton, Caropaya' Handicraft, Olfac3 Perfumes, Neecola Handmade, Mizzy Collections, Candle Pit Stop, TAS by Woman of Substance, Createe Kit, Puhus Pepper Plantation, and Enfiniti Academy.

Mohar Ibrahim, a Board Member of Persatuan Pembangunan Artisans, shared: “Surviving and thriving in the past few years has been challenging even for large-scale businesses. That’s why it’s all the more inspiring to see the extraordinary courage, creativity, and resilience that these women entrepreneurs embody. PPA is honoured to have hosted them at this award ceremony in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, and will remain committed to creating a more robust support and empowerment network for women and the local artisanal community.”
Jom Artisans Bazaars, held in conjunction with International Women’s Day, is happening now until 14 June 2023 at Tokyo Street, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Featuring 40 local brands, the bazaar is helping the local artisanal community to connect with each other as well as with more Malaysians to take their small businesses forward.
From festival gift sets to home décor pieces, visitors can expect to find a variety of intricate and bespoke items handmade with love by proud Malaysian crafters, many of whom are women.

The Artisans Haven supports nearly 1,000 artisans and merchants with e-commerce, social media posts, live shows, on-location videos, and on-ground activities. The organisation also founded Persatuan Pembangunan Artisans (Artisans Development Association Malaysia) to help more Malaysian artisans leverage a bigger distribution footprint and expand their businesses locally and internationally.
The Artisans Haven currently has three retail outlets located at Malaysia Grand Bazaar BBCC and Tokyo Street Pavilion KL, and Eslite Spectrum Starhill, providing a wide selection of unique and quality products.
