With students preparing to head back to school for a brand-new term in March 2023, Nestlé Malaysia is once again collaborating with its long-term partner, Empire Project, to support 2,500 students and 1,200 households from less privileged communities across Malaysia via its Back-to-School initiative.

As part of this programme, 70 Nestlé Cares volunteers mobilized to pack and distribute school essentials and food & beverages products worth nearly RM800,000. Each kit included a backpack with school uniforms and shoes, stationery sets, food containers and water bottles, as well as products such as Nestlé EVERYDAY, NESTUM All Family Cereal Original and MILO Activ-Go.
175 Orang Asli students at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Bumbun (Asli) in Pulau Carey, Selangor were amongst the first beneficiaries of the program, which aims to reach a total of 600 Orang Asli and refugee school students.

Mr Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, said, "The Back-to-School programme has become one of our key annual community outreach programmes under Nestlé Cares. As a company that cares deeply about people and communities, we are happy to have this opportunity to support students throughout Malaysia as they begin the new school term. Education should be accessible to all, and we hope our contributions will help these students from less affluent communities to learn effectively, as well as ensure they are better nourished.”
Mr Ashraf Khan, Founder of Empire Project said, “In line with our purpose of aiding communities regardless of background, we are pleased to have joined hands with Nestlé since 2016 to support underserved students throughout Malaysia. The Nestlé Cares Back-to-School initiative is a perfect example of how different organisations can come together to effectively serve the needs of communities.”
The Nestlé Cares Back-to-School programme has been running for approximately ten years as part of Nestlé’s employee volunteer programme, Nestlé Cares. Following the end of movement restrictions during the pandemic which prevented physical engagement with students, Nestlé hasupscaled its Back-to-School programme to reach more students than ever before and across the nation. To date, more than 6000 students have benefitted from the programme.
