The day is set to be full of festivities and loaded with Monki inspiration, all in the name of the brand’s mission to salute sisterhood, where all Monki friends of Kuala Lumpur are invited to celebrate.
Monki wants to offer a different world of fashion, while also empowering young women across the globe to be themselves. This has been put into focus with the opening campaign “Seven Sisters Salute Sisterhood”, where Monki has teamed up with seven local female artists who have created works of art that speaks to what “Salute Sisterhood” means to them.
Each artists’ work will be displayed in the new store, with smaller versions of their work made available to customers as a gift with purchase during the store opening. As customers enter the new store on opening day, they will step into an open and warm world, dubbed “Dream Weavery”.

Beyond support of the local art scene, this campaign aims to provide a safe space for women artists to express their vision on a global platform. Monki has commissioned an art installation from visual artist Nawwar Shukriah Ali, which will be available as a permanent fixture in-store.
There will also be a few Gift-with-Purchases (GWPs) available in-store on event day, all lovingly crafted by women-led, local and independent businesses including soaps from Buih Co., candles from Self Supply, and beaded bracelets from Bead Classic.
This store concept, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, weaves its soft yet impactful colours through every part of the store – from floor to ceiling – enhanced with elements such as a Monki chandelier, wavy accessory stands, and an impactful, minimalistic entrance area.
Also greeting customers is an eye-catching and colourful in-store installation. This installation has been created by multi-disciplinary artist Nawwar Shukriah Ali, a collaboration highlighting the work between Monki and the local creative community.
“When Monki briefed me about Dream Weavery store concept, I was psyched to hear the dream part as I’m still on my journey in learning about dreams and the subconscious mind. Like how powerful your mind is that you have the universe inside you to make things happen, you are limitless and so magical. So the work is about something cosmic, about being whole even when we have multiple facets to us”, says Nawwar.
Monki will also offer gift cards to the first 100 inside the store, goodie bags, a Monki style photobooth, as well as special opening day discount. Plus, the brand has teamed up with local female small business owners, whose merchandise in the form of candles, soap bars and beaded bracelets will be available as gifts when customers spend a certain amount.
The new concept store, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, will be opening on 3 December from 11am, with the festivities going on until 10pm.
