Hey! Recently, I had a fun and satisfying dining experience at the VEE by TeoChiew Private Kitchen in Sri Petaling. Unlike any ordinary Teochew restaurant, this is a private dining that serves unique TeoChew cuisines with a twist or TeoChew fusion.

The VEE by TeoChiew is the newly revamped private dining restaurant with gin and coffee bar. Before this, they were known as TeoChiew Kitchen serving authentic TeoChew cuisine for decades.

The restaurant interior is minimalist, spacious, and simple. I like this kind of casual dining concept, it’s hip and more friendly especially for those who wish to hang-out for happy hour. The setup is totally unlike the typical Chinese restaurant.

The VEE by TeoChiew is located at 41, Jalan Radin Bagus, Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. This area is the busy part of Sri Petaling areas, there are many shops, offices, eateries, and more. Finding a car park along the road might be difficult, I suggest you to park at the multi-storey carpark and walk over to the restaurant. Yes, The VEE by TeoChiew is within walking distance from the multi-storey carpark.

Another unique point about this restaurant as you walk into the restaurant on your right-hand side you can see a bar. The VEE by TeoChiew has a Gin bar with 66 types of gin for now, in the future might be more. You can find Artic Blue Gin, an award-winning gin exclusively here. The only place in KL you can taste and purchase the Artic Blue Gin.
We tried nine dishes and most of them exceed my expectation. We ordered Fried Porridge, Signature Garlic Seared Black Promfret, Teochew Pineapple Prawns, Braised & Seared US Collar Ribs, Rice Wine Choysum, Jou Jou Chicken, Salt Pepa Porky Skin, KiamChye Croissant, and Fresh Broiled Octopus with Superior Broth. This is one of The VEE by TeoChiew signature dishes and must-try. It may look simple to you but when you taste it you will know what I mean. They cook the porridge then fried it to get the ‘wok hei’, it’s flavourful and the porridge texture is between rice and porridge unlike the soft type.

Must-try! I ate the fish head aka the best part of the whole fish and omg its mind-blowing. Nice presentation, the whole fish is so crispy, aromatic, topped with house special garlic and special soy sauce.

Teochew Pineapple Prawns is prawn skewers served with pineapple cubes and on pineapple. Basically, the large prawns are deep fried and lightly glazed with the pineapple sauce. This is perfect appetizer, paired with drinks or for happy hour.

Jou Jou Chicken
Jou Jou Chicken is their all-time best seller. Stir-fried chicken with apple cider sauce, its crispy on the outside and tender inside with well-balanced taste of sweet and sour. The chicken is marinated with apple cider and then stir fried again with the sauce.

Braised & Seared US Pork Collar Ribs is like the traditional braised pork knuckle, it taste authentic and aromatic. Perfect with the fried porridge or rice or with fried ‘man tao’.

Baby octopus cooked with superior broth. The fresh octopus is cooked to perfection as the texture is spring and smooth. It’s served with special Teochew sauce as well as their Teochew chili sauce.

Salt pepa porky skin is so crunchy with hints of salt and pepper. It may look like a simple dish but it takes lots of work to prepare it from scratch. Instead of getting it from a third party, The VEE by TeoChiew make their crackling pork skin by cleaning, boiling, marinating, and deep fried by themselves. This dish is perfect paring with Artic Blue Gin too.

Kiamchye Croissant
Kiamchye Croissant is a unique twist, Kiamchye means the salted vegetables. The salted vegetable is mixed with minced pork its flavourful but not too salty. Eat with croissant, you get a balanced flavours and buttery after taste.

The Rice Wine Choysum is cooked with Chinese rice wine and topped with goji berries. Love the combination and it’s appetizing too.
We took a few glasses of the Artic Blue Gin. This is our first time trying the Finland gin and it is really smooth and good. We tried a couple of different type of Gin out there but you can actually drink this Artic Blue Gin neat on the rocks and the taste differs once you added soda. We highly recommended Gin lover to try this Artic Blue Gin when you are there!

This is my first-time trying Finland’s Artic Blue Gin, love the crisp, smooth, and aromatic. You can add soda but I personally prefers it on the rocks and it has more kick and aroma. We also tried Gin with Coffee, its unique and arousing, i like it too.

Overall, I had a great dining experience at the VEE by TeoChiew Private Kitchen Sri Petaling. It’s the place I discovered interesting and unique TeoChew fusion food. Their dishes are superb with reasonable and affordable prices although it’s a private kitchen and private dining restaurant. Yes, I will go back to satisfy my cravings and try more dishes.
