Review: Setia City Palace 8 BBQ & Steamboat Buffet (Pork Free)

Hey! What’s your plan for this weekend? If you love BBQ & Steamboat like me then you must try out this Setia City Palace 8 BBQ & Steamboat Buffet, its pork free. This is the new seafood BBQ & Steamboat restaurant located at ground floor of Setia City Convention Centre and within walking distance from Setia City Shopping Mall, Setia Alam.

As I walk into Setia City Convention Centre, I can easily spot Setia City Palace 8 Restaurant, prominent located on the ground floor. You can park at the front of the restaurant or convention centre or shopping mall.

The restaurant is quite spacious, fully air-condition it has a dining hall, private rooms, each table comes with electric hotpot and BBQ grill stove. There are table for four and large table for 10 people. The decoration contemporary, neat, with bright lighting and modern Chinese restaurant ambience.

Let’s check out their BBQ & Steamboat Buffet menu. As mentioned earlier this is pork free restaurant, they are in the process of applying HALAL certification. Setia City Palace 8 BBQ & Steamboat Buffet comes with more than 50 types of food which includes meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles, desserts, and drinks.

They offer 5 types of steamboat soup, such as 

Palace Chicken Stock Soup

Palace Special Tomato Soup

Korean Kimchi Soup

Thai Tom Yam Soup

Satay Lok Lok

The Soup is priced at RM15 per soup type and it could be for individual pot or whole table pot. For example, if you choose two types, you will be charged RM30. This is surcharge of the buffet price.

That evening, I tried 4 types which are Palace Chicken Stock Soup, Palace Special Tomato Soup, Thai Tom Yam Soup, and Satay Lok Lok. I personally like the Chicken and Tom Yam Soup.

For sliced meat, they offer American Beef Slices and Lamb Slices. This will be served to your table. You can order ala-carte as it os part of the buffet, there is no additional charges.

I find its more fun when BBQ & Steamboat Buffet comes with skewers. It’s perfect for lok lok style, deep fried, and even grill. There are 18 types of skewers available such as Fresh King Prawn, Tiger Prawn, Black Pepper Chicken, Marinated Beef, Marinated Lamb, Squid, Dorman Fish, Beancurd Skin, Sausage, Black Pepper Sausage, Golden Mushroom Ham Wrap, Japanese Beancurd, Pumpkin Slice, Baby Sweet Corn, Yam, Oyster Mushroom, Fish Roll, and Stuffed Bean Curd Skin. 

Omg… imagine if you take one of each can you finish them all? Hahaha… best is to go with a group of friends or with your family then you can share the food. For deep-fried you just select at the counter and pass to the chef, they will cook and then send to your table.

For Seafood, they offer 8 types of seafood, such as Fresh King Prawn, Tiger Prawn, Sea Clam, Razor Clam, Mussel, Jelly Fish, Shelled Scallop, and Dorman Fish. 

I love their fresh seafood and most of them comes is big sizes, look at the huge shelled scallop. I ate a few and their fresh water prawns are so fresh too, perfect for grill or soup. 

Steamboat Ingredients

For Steamboat ingredients, there are 10 items such as Bean Curd Skin Roll, Lobster Ball, Cheese Ball, Tri Bean Curd Roll, Fish Roe Bag, Fish Roe Ball, Stuffed Lady Finger, Stuffed Green Chili, Stuffed Red Chili, and Fish Roll. 

Vegetables 

There are 13 types of vegetables includes Chinese Cabbage, Potato, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Sweet Corn, Lotus Root, Bayam, You Mak, Pumpkin, Spinach, Fresh Mushroom, Oyster Mushroom, and Enoki Mushroom.

There are 4 types of instant noodles such as Spinach Noodle, HK Noodle, Carrot Noodle, and Vermicelli.

Overall, me and my friends enjoy out dinner at Setia City Palace 8 BBQ & Steamboat Buffet. There are lots of varieties, their seafood is awesome, I ate so much. The deep-fried fresh prawns and squid skewers memang sedap. I forgot how many skewers we ate. 

For soup base I prefer the Palace Chicken Stock Soup and Palace Tom Yam Soup, just nice and balance not too overpowering or spicy. The air-condition and ventilation is good, its comfortable and their staff are attentive. Definitely worth to visit again and now they are having opening promotion its more worth it.
