Things To Do When You're Comfortable In A Relationship

The words ‘comfortable’ and ‘relationship’ might not initially sound so great together. After all, when you’re comfortable with your partner, doesn’t that mean the passion has gone or that you start to take one another for granted? Although this can be the case, it doesn’t have to be, and being comfortable with someone you love is actually a positive thing. It means you can be yourself and really enjoy your life without having to put on any kind of act or hide anything about yourself away.

If you’re concerned that being comfortable in your relationship might be a bad sign, don’t worry – there are things you can do when you get to this stage to keep things fresh. Read on to find out more.

Don’t Stress The Small Stuff

A very important thing you can do when you’re in a comfortable relationship is not to stress about the small stuff. It really doesn’t matter. Does he keep leaving towels on the bathroom floor or dropping clothes next to the laundry hamper? Does she squeeze the toothpaste tube from the middle instead of the bottom? So what? Does it actually matter?

Take some time to think about this question. Does it actually matter? Although these things might be small annoyances, they’re not something that will break your relationship, and they shouldn’t be. Neither of you are perfect, and each of you will do things to annoy the other; the key is to ignore the small things because they’re just not important, and you’ll be a lot happier that way.

Have Fun In The Bedroom

If your sex life is as comfortable as the rest of your relationship, perhaps you’ll wonder what to do. In other words, if it’s nice enough, but not very exciting (which is likely to be the case if you’ve been together long enough to be comfortable in your relationship) and it’s important to you, why not spice it up a little? Remember, though, sex is not everything, and some people just aren’t that fussed about it; if that’s you and your partner, so be it.

The best thing to do is to talk to your partner about what they would like. Perhaps there are some fantasies you’ve never discussed or acted on, or you might want to investigate some toys for the bedroom specifically for your relationship, like sex toys for lesbians. There’s no harm in trying something new, and it might be that you find it’s the ideal way to add some variety into your comfortable relationship.

Remember The Element Of Surprise

Of course, surprising your partner in the bedroom is not necessarily a good idea; it’s always best to talk through new sexual ideas to make sure both of you are onboard with it. However, surprises in other areas of your life are a great idea when you’re comfortable in a relationship, as there is always that chance of something unexpected happening, which keeps the excitement alive.

Perhaps you might randomly buy one another little gifts or flowers (you don’t have to spend a lot of money – often it’s best not to, as the smaller gifts are the ones that mean a lot) or leave notes for your partner to find. Loving (or sexy) text messages are always a nice thing to receive, and to send. The more surprises you can have in your relationship, the more enjoyable it will be.
