Well, as you know this is not my first time trying Matcha Eight ice cream, before they open their first store in Lalaport BBCC; Matcha Eight ice cream is available online at matchaeight.com since 14th April 2021. Initial launched online offering of 4 ice cream flavours. On 20th January 2022, Matcha Eight opened their first physical outlet at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport located on the Ground Floor Lot G-68, Gourmet Street.

Now Matcha Eight serves 8 flavors of ice cream online and also at their outlet. They are the first premium Japanese tea ice cream artisan in Malaysia offering sencha, matcha and hojicha series of varying tea richness to suit everyone’s palate. Matcha Eight is a creation of culinary art and passion, with an exclusive partnership with Michelin-starred Master Chef Takuji Takahashi from Kyoto. Matcha Eight ice creams are Muslim-friendly. 

Well, Master Chef Takuji Takahashi is a Michelin starred chef who is the third-generation owner of Kyoto’s Kinobu Restaurant, Japan. Each of Matcha Eight ice cream flavours is made using the single-origin tea powder harvested by these farmers respectively to bring out the most authentic tea taste in the ice creams.

Well, when it comes to taste as liking it is very subjective, I personally like the number 5 which is Hocus Matcha-cus because of the intense matcha taste and there is a slight bitterness. That’s how I like it. 

The number 4 Matcha Me Tonight with medium matcha if you like authentic Japanese matcha ice cream without bitter aftertaste. While number 6 Melodrama Queen with rich blend of sencha and matcha with sencha aftertaste. Both are also also quite popular and suits most tastebuds.

We ordered the Hocus Matcha-cus in cone and Hojilicious in cup with mochi and red bean paste toppings. This Hojilicious a light hojicha ice cream is well loved by adults and kids who are fond of roasted tea ice cream. 

Both were so delightful and we finished it all, I don’t mind having another serving. The taste of pure intense matcha ice cream just melt in my mouth and the hojicha ice cream is perfect with the toppings.

Overall, I memang love Japanese ice cream and Matcha Eight is one of the Best and the first premium Japanese tea ice cream artisan in Malaysia offering sencha, matcha and hojicha series.
