Let’s begin your day at The Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew) in Bangkok’s center, where you may learn about Thai culture and immerse yourself in it. These are the most famous historical landmarks you simply cannot miss!

Most of the temples and religious sites in Thailand will not allow you to enter if you are not properly dressed. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts are not permitted, and your knees must also be hidden. Clothing that is too tight or see-through may be considered inappropriate. So, be mindful of how you dress.

The former Royal Residence, the Grand Palace, is a well-known historical location with spectacular buildings that blend Thai and Western style. The Grand Palace is a collection of buildings, rooms, and chapels placed around open lawns, gardens, and courtyards.

In the Outer Palace area, it is where the green jade Buddha image, The Emerald Buddha, is kept. The Emerald Buddha is believed to bring authority and wealth to those who possess it. The Emerald Buddha Temple, commonly known as Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram or Wat Phra Kaew, was constructed within the king's palace and would not house monks. Unlike other temples in Thailand, which serve primarily as monks' living quarters.

The Emerald Buddha Temple

The Grand Palace has a 500 Baht entrance fee, which provides access to all of the attractions inside, including Wat Phra Kaew.

After exploring the palace for a while, let’s jump on the Chao Phraya River boat from Phra Chan Pier to Wang Lang Pier. It costs less than 4 baht!

Wang Lang, a historic area with a long history on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, derives its name from its closeness to the Rear Palace, a palace that formerly belonged to King Rama I's nephew and is now gone. If you are seeking for real Thai street cuisine and a local market experience in Bangkok, Wang Lang should be at the top of your list.

Wang Lang Market

Wang Lang Market lies just southwest of Wang Lang Pier. Wang Lang Market, a 300-meter-long market where you can get almost every type of meal, from roti to the most renowned Thai dessert, Mango Sticky Rice. Wang Lang Market has not only food stalls but also vintage clothing and other items that are reasonably priced.

As you may have heard, Bangkok is home to massive shopping malls. You may wish to stay in air-conditioned buildings to cool down after spending so much time outside in the hot weather. Take another boat ride from Wang Lang Pier to Si Phraya Pier. Then, board the free ICONSIAM shuttle boat heading to the iconic shopping center.

ICONSIAM, the largest mall in Bangkok, is also Thailand’s iconic national landmark with its concept, the Icon of Eternal Prosperity. It is located on an 88k square-meter piece of land along the Chao Phraya River. ICONSIAM has fascinated thousands of visitors with a wider mix of products and services, including outstanding restaurants, department stores with a great number of luxury brands. You may also discover a romantic spot with wonderful views of the city next to the river on the rooftop bar.
