When COVID Says Bye-Bye

I'm Tired of the Restrictions. I think I speak for everyone when I say that COVID-19 has been an incredible drag these last 2 years. Yes, you read that right—in just about 3 months, we will have been dealing with the pandemic for 2 long, brutal years.

It’s tough to decide which is worse: the virus itself or the way it has impacted our lives. Of course, I recognize the importance of every precaution we’ve had to take, but I admit that I’m tired of the restrictions that have kept us all away from normality.

In my opinion, one of the most difficult consequences of this pandemic has been the decline of social interaction. Being in person and having real conversations is one of life’s most enriching pleasures; texting and social media posts aren’t great substitutes! Since the beginning of the pandemic, I haven’t been able to see most of my family, which has been a downer.

If you’re curious and want to commiserate, here are some of the things I yearn to do once COVID finally goes bye-bye.

Visiting My Friends and Family

As is probably true with most people, I’m most looking forward to making up for lost time with my friends and relatives. Prior to the pandemic, I was something of a social butterfly; I would regularly see the most important people in my life, and rarely made plans I couldn’t keep. It’ll be so refreshing to see everyone again—and not just through platforms like Zoom!

I’m Excited to Do Some Traveling

Lockdown and quarantine have made me understand what animals at the zoo probably feel like—just without the hordes of observers around me! I hate being so tied down to one location, so I’m excited to get out of the house and do some much-needed traveling.

I’ve used this time of isolation to plan trips that I want to take within the next few months—for example, I’ve always wanted to visit New York, so when things settle down, I’m going to visit Broadway and the Statue of Liberty and take some incredible pictures.

I Look Rugged after Two Hard Years

Whether it be in the form of wrinkles, lines, and droopy skin, everyone ages. Unfortunately, though, I feel like I’ve aged a lot quicker than most. In the mirror, I hardly recognize myself, which has put a serious damper on my spirits.

I think the culprit is the stress of COVID and indoor isolation, so I can’t wait to get out and take care of myself. I’ve been thinking about getting a facelift so I can reverse the effects of aging and show COVID who’s boss. Just another thing to check off the bucket list!

Going to an Amusement Park without Fear

Before the pandemic, I loved visiting amusements parks, especially Six Flags. Obviously, due to the circumstances, it’s simply not safe to go where there are large crowds of people, and I wouldn’t want to endanger my family. But once COVID goes away and amusement parks reopen, I’ll look into special passes so that I can bring all of my friends!

Going on a Cruise with My Family

Sometimes, it’s best to just get away, and what better way to do that than with a cruise? It’d be a wonderful, easy way to kick back and relax, and my kids would even be able make their own friends at the on-board teen club and arcade.

A cruise, in my opinion, will be a symbolic testament to our freedom from the pandemic, and I can’t wait to cherish the experience with my loved ones; all that will matter when we set sail are the cocktails, the sun, and the pool!
