Suria KLCC Donates to Hospitals to Help Flood Victims

Malls under the Suria KLCC Group rose to the occasion again following the recent flooding at several places by quickly arranging for goods to be donated to the personnel and those warded at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Suria KLCC Donates to Hospitals to Help Flood Victims

On 20 Dec, Putrajaya’s Alamanda Shopping Centre swung into action by donating RM10,000 worth of items to Hospital Putrajaya to help 168 hospital personnel who were affected by last month’s floods, which hit parts of Selangor such as Dengkil, Kota Warisan, Banting, Bukit Changgang, Lebohan Dagang, Shah Alam, and Warisan Bestari.

The donated items consist of ready-to-eat meals, as well as drinking water, items that are highly sought after during a natural disaster. Alamanda's effort was further boosted by Suria KLCC, which on 31 December, donated food items as well as other self-care supplies worth RM20,000 to the flood victims at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, which consists of both hospital staff and the patients whose homes were affected by the floods.

These hospital staff as well as the patients hail from areas such as Sri Muda, Hulu Langat, Puchong, Shah Alam, Dengkil, and Gombak and Jalan Ipoh. The donations were handed over by Ameer Thajudeen, General Manager of Suria KLCC, to Datin Paduka Dr. Rohana Johan, Director of Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Other than ready to eat meals, beverage packets, and drinking water, Suria KLCC also added personal care items, cleaning products, and toiletries, to the list.

Hospital Kuala Lumpur was chosen as a recipient as it is one of the busiest hospitals at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19. Throughout last year, the Suria KLCC Group had also contributed ready-to-eat meals to medical frontliners at Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Putrajaya.

Commenting on the donation, Dr. Rohana said, “We are thankful to the Suria KLCC Group for remembering us, the medical frontliners during this hard time. The timely gift food, beverages and personal care products have indeed helped relieve the pressure on the overtaxed frontliners, some of whom also have to worry about their homes after the floods.”

Reflecting on the unfortunate end to 2021 and the beginning of 2022 for some Malaysians, Andrew Brien, Executive Director of the Suria KLCC Group said, “We are pleased to do our part in lending a helping hand to medical frontliners as well as affected residents in their hour of need. We are deeply sorry to hear that the rain has wreaked havoc in many households even as we were all ready to welcome the new year. We trust our gesture will go a long way in expressing our solidarity with the flood victims, wherever they may be. No matter the weather, we urge everyone to stay safe and to continue to be vigilant against any threat to public safety or health.”
