The Land of the Rising Sun’s national concert hall network is set to open its doors in KL, in the second quarter of 2022. A subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc, Zepp Kuala Lumpur is located in the heart of the city centre and is a part of the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) development. Having been around since 1998, this is Zepp Hall Network’s 11th event hall, with nine outlets in Japan and another one in Taiwan, Zepp New Taipei.

The idea for this game-changing facility came about more than 20 years ago. Back then, there were no proper standing concert venues for mid-sized audiences of 2,000-3,000. Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc identified the need to provide an alternative venue to the usual seated theatres for rock band performances. They then joined forces with Zepp to develop a one-stop solution for concerts, for artists from all across Japan.
Zepp Sapporo was the first branch of the event hall network, before expanding to Osaka, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Yokohama, allowing artists to easily tour the country with similar stage setups in all major regions. Zepp’s success also led to international expansion, with branches in Singapore (2017-2019), Taiwan and now Malaysia.
“Zepp has come a long way since 1998. What started off as a venue to help artists in Japan, has now grown to a business that offers solutions for various industries and events, be it corporate conferences, car exhibitions or weddings. Our international expansion is also another way to help event industries worldwide to offer a one-stop solution for any mid-sized event. We are extremely pleased to be launching Zepp Kuala Lumpur this year. This all-new event hall will act as a cultural exchange centre between Malaysia and Japan,” said Akira Uehara, President, Zepp Hall Network Inc.
Zepp’s latest venture includes a 6,500 sq metres hall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It will house eight VIP boxes with private lounges and seating areas. The 2,500 capacity event space also offers the same top-notch facilities that have become synonymous with the global Zepp brand.
Loved by world-renowned artists, the state-of-the-art venue features high quality pre-installed lighting and audio equipment, that makes rehearsal setups a breeze and helps event organisers save production costs. The venue is also hugely popular among upcoming artists. It provides them with the ideal stage to hold their gigs and to boost exposure, before progressing to larger scale concerts.
Additionally, Zepp Kuala Lumpur’s hall also serves as a one-stop solution for corporate events, fashion shows, TV and advertising recordings, dinner events, eSports tournaments, as well as martial arts performances. Built on the former Pudu jail site, Zepp Kuala Lumpur will be the anchor for BBCC's entertainment hub. The integrated development includes a strata office, five-star hotel, luxury serviced residences, lifestyle mall, grand bazaar as well as food and beverage establishments.
“We looked at the Malaysian event space market and spotted a potential for Zepp to become the go-to option for a variety of shows, including concerts, corporate, social and personal events. By ensuring our KL event space meets the highest standards of our hall networks in Japan, we are confident that we can ultimately contribute and help Malaysia’s entertainment and events industry to continue growing to new heights. In addition, we are also delighted to be sharing BBCC with Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kuala Lumpur (tentative name) developed by Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.– one of Southeast Asia's largest retail spaces and we will be collaborating with them in the future,” said Shinichiro Honda, Vice President of Hall Operation division, Zepp Hall Network Inc.
Zepp Kuala Lumpur will officially launch in the second quarter of 2022. For any inquiries, reach out to Shinichiro Honda at inquiry.kl@zepp.co.jp or visit their official Facebook
