Making The Right Resolutions This New Year

To say the least, the events of the past year were unprecedented and unexpected. That being said, it is almost unbelievable how close we are to the new year. We all hope that 2022 will gift us with better days, and you might already be thinking about ways you can improve yourself in the new year. Here are some of the best resolutions for the upcoming new year.

Making The Right Resolutions This New Year

1. Donate Consistently to Charity

No matter how big or small your contribution, giving money to charity can make a huge impact to someone in need. You might choose a new charity to research every week, fortnight, month, or even less frequently and donate to them

It is easy to grow ignorant of the current issues of the world when they do not directly affect you. Therefore, learning about various charities and donating to them is a great way to boost your awareness of both local and global issues.

2. Create Meal Plans

When developing a meal plan, it is most important that you are consistent with your mealtimes. Regular eating patterns are beneficial to your digestive system, and this will make you feel better. Planning your meals allows you to organize your weekly shop more efficiently and also motivates you to make more exciting and sufficient food.

3. Set Budgets

A good way to manage your money in the new year is to set a budget and stick to it. You might give yourself a weekly or monthly budget; this will allow you to take control of your finances and may assist you in saving up for a rainy day.

4. Floss Every Day

We all know that we should brush our teeth twice daily, however, a lot of us are guilty of neglecting our gums whilst caring for our teeth. Flossing can brighten your teeth, freshen your breath, and even prevent diseases such as gingivitis. Your smile will thank you for incorporating flossing into your daily routine.

5. Ditch A Bad Habit

Bad habits – we all have them. Whether it be smoking, nail-biting, swearing, etc, we all have something about ourselves that we could change. Quitting cold turkey is not the most effective method of wrestling with a bad habit when it comes to something like smoking. Instead, you will want to reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke in a day over time until the figure reaches zero.

For something like swearing, you might have a “swear jar”, wherein you have to put money in the jar every time you curse. You might assign higher values to the words that you use the most to steer you away from saying them.

6. Utilise To-do Lists

To-do lists are great tools in boosting your productivity and the feeling of crossing a task off your list is very cathartic. Using different colored pens, highlighters, and stickers is a great way to make your list more visually appealing which will make you feel more inclined to complete it.

7. Take A Monthly 24-hour Social Media Break

Social media has become an addictive element of our current society and whilst it can connect you to people across the globe, it can be detrimental to your mental health and perception of yourself. It can be difficult to recognize that the majority of people on social media are airbrushed, leaving you wondering why you do not look that perfect.

A monthly social media detox is a great way to distance yourself from the damaging nature of photoshop and live in the real world.

Obviously, there is no limit to the possibilities of New Year’s Resolutions, these are just some ideas if you find yourself struggling. Whatever you choose to change in the new year make sure it is a positive adjustment. Here’s to a thriving new year!
