What would happen if our future generations can no longer enjoy this privilege if the zoo has to be closed down? Our treasured Zoo Negara has become dull due to its closure to the public. Although it was an unfortunate turn of events, it was done with the public’s best interests in mind to help quell the recent rising numbers of pandemic cases.

HABIB decided to answer the call of duty to aid the zoo. Hence, in addition to the previous RM 50,000 worth of donation, HABIB is also adding in another RM 50,000 as a contribution, bringing the total sum to RM 100,000. This contribution is not merely a proof of solidarity for our zoo, but also a call to action for other corporations and the public to collectively carry out their social responsibility, all in an effort to ensure that the zoo can resume its operations and conservation.

To complement this effort, HABIB has introduced a limited edition of 24K gold wafers which are thematically designed in conjunction with “HABIB for Zoo Negara” campaign launched in December 2020.

The limited-edition gold wafers come in six different designs inscribed with six most iconic animals found in the zoo, namely the rhinoceros’ hornbill, mousedeer, Asian elephant, Malayan tiger, panda, and orang utan.

These gold wafers are not only ideal for collectors and gift-giving, but also serve as tangible introductory entrée to investment, especially for children who are easing into the habit of saving money while learning to appreciate gold and its value. HABIB also hopes that these wafers will serve as a more creative and meaningful token of appreciation for our flora and fauna.

This second contribution was presented by En. Mirsham who is the brainchild of this collaborative idea “HABIB For Zoo Negara” “Save Our Animals” campaigns. He is the youngest son of Dato’ Sri Meer Habib, Executive Chairman of HABIB Group and Datin Sri Zarida Noordin, Executive Director of HABIB Group. This cheque was presented to Mr. Rosly Ahmat, the Deputy President of the National Zoo of Malaysia which took place at HABIB’s head office in Ampang. The cheque presentation was graced by the beautiful Miss Francisca Luhong, Miss Universe Malaysia 2021 who’s also an avid nature lover.

With our collective and proactive effort as a society, Zoo Negara will hopefully remain as one of our national legacies so that future generations will be able to indulge in this privilege even through these trying times.
