Meghan Markle Style: 10 Best Looks

Before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, her style was a bit more fun and flirty.

When Meghan Markle announced her engagement to Prince Harry and started the long process that culminated in their lavish 2018 wedding, she already had a very distinctive style. It could best be summarized as “California girl braves the Canadian winters.” She has done just that, of course, having lived in Toronto for seven years as one of the stars of the legal drama Suits. Before, she wore upscale athleisure, perfectly destroyed denim, luxurious parkas, and fashion-forward sunglasses. Then she sat down on a couch and gave a joyful interview with “H,” as she calls him, and her style changed overnight. She was a royal and she started to dress like it.

But after becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has ushered in a new wave of modernity and minimalism to the British royal family’s style. Known for her monochromatic outfits, boat necklines, and even suits (no pun intended), Meghan has quickly become a style icon across the globe. The royal is known to frequent designers like Givenchy and Dior, while also mixing in more affordable finds from brands like Artizia and J.Crew too. With all eyes on the duchess, we’re tracking all her best outfits and style since she first went public with Prince Harry in 2017.

As of April 1, Markle is no longer a working royal, but here's a look back at the best fashion moments from her time as the Duchess of Sussex.

Whether she is wearing a classic coat, a pair of suede boots, or touches of autumnal colors, the duchess' timeless style will inspire you.

A fan of both luxury and high-street brands, Markle isn't scared of taking fashion risks, and some of her outfits from the last decade are even resurfacing in this season's trends.

Although the princess always wears luxury brands that could not possibly be sold online on classified ads sites, you can still find similar outfits at Shoppok if you really want some fashionable outfits.

Let's look back at some of Meghan Markle's 10 best looks

During a visit to Canada on January 7, 2020, Meghan kept cozy in a brown monochrome look. She wore a Massimo Dutti turtleneck and satin midi skirt with Jimmy Choo pumps while keeping her Reiss coat draped over her arm.

The Duchess stepped out in a chic black ensemble for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, November 9, 2019. The black brocade dress was custom Erdem, and she accessorized her look with her beloved Aquazzura Deneuve bow pointy-toe pumps and a gorgeous pair of Jessica McCormack ruby heart earrings.

On October 25, 2019, Meghan went for a full monochromatic look for a One Young World event. She tucked her Joseph cashmere v-neck sweater into a leather skirt from BOSS by Hugo Boss, then topped off the look with Sarah Flint's Perfect Pumps and a pair of Emily Mortimer's Hera Diamond and Gold Studs.

On the last day of the royal tour of South Africa (October 2, 2019), Meghan paired a white shirtdress from a local designer with Stuart Weitzman heels and colorful Madewell earrings.

While visiting the University of Johannesburg during the royal tour of South Africa (October 1, 2019), Markle went for a nude look with a trench dress from the Banana Republic, Stuart Weitzman pumps, and a bracelet by Alemdara.

During another day of the royal tour of South Africa (September 25, 2019), Meghan opted for a black jumpsuit from the sustainable brand Everlane, paired with black Manolo Blahnik pumps and a bracelet and earrings from Gas Bijoux.

The Duchess looked bright in a blue Veronica Beard dress with CastaƱer espadrilles as she and Harry visited the District 6 Museum and Homecoming Centre during their royal tour of South Africa, September 23, 2019.

Markle returned from maternity leave to attend the launch of her charity collection of work apparel benefiting the charity Smart Works on September 12, 2019. She wore a white button-down shirt and black trousers from the capsule and completed the ensemble with tan suede pumps, layered gold bracelets, and earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana.

For 2019 Trooping the Colour ceremony held on June 8, 2019, The Duchess donned a navy Givenchy dress complete with leather gloves and a matching hat by Noelle Stewart. The chic monochromatic look marked her first post-maternity appearance since giving birth to the couple's firstborn Archie.

On March 8, 2019, while delivering a speech for International Women's Day at King's College, The Duchess donned a black and white print dress by Reiss, an Alexander McQueen blazer, and Manolo Blahnik pumps.

One notable appearance

For her first 2020 royal appearance, Meghan wore a $70 plain silk wool sweater and brown satin midi skirt from Massimo Dutti, which were both sold out at the time of writing. She topped her outfit off with a camel-colored Reiss coat, and velvet Jimmy Choo pumps.

Markle accessorized with a pair of $158 swallow earrings from Catherine Zoraida, a $440 Kismet by Milka Hamsa ring, and a $540 dangle circles bracelet from the same brand.

The best Meghan Markle style moments have been tracked with precision since her relationship with Prince Harry first went public—and before that, for all the Suits stans. While she may no longer be a working member of the royal family, Markle's style choices are as interesting as ever for fashion fans…even if we're mostly just seeing tops on Zoom these days.

While there were certainly many a fancy royal look (and fascinator) during the Sussexes' time in England, a good portion of our favorite Meghan Markle style choices are the ones that find her leaning into the casual-cool aesthetic signature to native Californians. Here's hoping we see even more of that going forward, once the world opens back up.
