6 Unconventional Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence

What would you do differently now if you had the self-confidence so strong that under no circumstances will it rupture? What would your life be like? Would you be in a job that you've been eyeing so badly? Would you have the salary you've always wanted? Self-confidence isn't magic. In fact, it's a combination of several attributes that need to be developed. Everyone has self-confidence, but it's all in varying degrees and varying situations.

You may be confident in your skills as a marketer, but you may not have the confidence to sing in front of a large crowd. That said, if you feel like you lack self-confidence on a general basis, then it's something that you should proactively work to build for yourself because self-confidence is something that will create a lasting impression among the people you meet, the things you do, and the successes you accomplish.

Self-confidence doesn't magically appear, and it certainly doesn't passively happen. Self-confidence built on external factors is often one that's on shaky ground. It can crumble easily, but self-confidence built from within stands on a rock-solid foundation.

There are numerous ways you've probably read about building self-confidence, but today, we're going to look at unconventional ways of building and strengthening it.

1. Keep a playlist of confidence-boosting songs

Maybe you’re waiting for your turn to go in for an interview? Maybe you’re on your commute to present a new project to the board of directors. Perhaps you need to be pumped up before the step onto the track for a 100-meter dash. It doesn’t hurt to listen to some confidence-boosting songs or podcasts for a quick adrenaline rush.

2. Break the barrier and take on something that makes you feel uncomfortable

When you start doubting yourself, you'll open a flood gate of always preventing yourself from trying something new. Remember that it's okay to feel uncomfortable. It's okay to look uneasy, and it's also okay to look a little silly. As a matter of fact, people will find you more appealing and feel more connected to you when they see that you're being yourself, and you're not putting up a false facade.

It's not about making a joke out of yourself or clowning around. It's about just growing your inner strength and building your confidence, which means occasionally putting yourself in situations that you've never tried before. It's as simple as just joining a karaoke session when you've never sung before or as complex as giving a speech in front of a thousand people.

Commit to learning, to adapt, and to grow, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. Dare to step outside of your comfort zone.

3. Fail fast and fail often

Yes, it's not ideal, right? Most of us are afraid of failure until it prevents us from growing. Unfortunately, the truth is that failing is a process of learning and growing. You've probably heard this so many times - it doesn't matter how many times you fall. It matters how many times you rise up, learn, and grow. Speaking of failing, it's also okay to be wrong. There's no rule in any book that says you need to be right all the time.

To build confidence, you need to be not so worried about being wrong. Take a stand, admit when you're wrong, and realize your viewpoint is wrong. This trial and error process only helps you expand your breath of information and discover what IS right.

4. Compliment people

Life isn't about surviving. It's about thriving. You thrive with compassion, passion, generosity, humor, and kindness - it makes the world a happier place to live in. What has complimenting someone else got to do with your self-confidence? When you get into the habit of complimenting people, you break the cycle of negativity you're experiencing.

It's easy for us to think less of ourselves and so imagine when someone tells you, "That's amazing work, good job" or "You're really good at creating spreadsheets" or "That shirt looks good on you." It makes you feel good, doesn't it? Do the same to the people you see or meet. Compliment them. In this process, you make someone smile.

5. Get frustrated, but also get over it

Frustration and disappointment are common feelings to have, especially when you want something so badly, and it doesn't work out. Call up a friend, speak to your spouse, scream into your pillow, and basically go nuts with your feelings in a safe space. Give yourself space to moan and complain and fret about it depending on the setback, but after that, it's time to reign in and get back to hustling. These actions will help you think positively and reawaken your confidence about all the possibilities on the road ahead.

6. Pamper yourself

Sometimes, we all need to do a little physical, tangible therapy to make us feel good. Self-confidence from within takes time to build, but sometimes, a little therapy on ourselves is good, especially when we don't feel so confident in a physical aspect of ourselves. It could be a scar that you have that makes you feel self-conscious.

Well, treat your scar. Read scar cream reviews to get the best one for the type of scar you have. Maybe you feel like a new look is needed to boost your self-confidence. Go get a haircut or get a new color. Even getting a new dress or a shirt can actually do wonders to lift your spirit and help you feel and look confident.

Just remember that self-confidence isn't something that appears out of thin air. It's something that you need to work on, just like any other aspect of your well-being. Trust yourself, respect yourself, and don't be afraid of trying new things[, especially if you're interested in CoolSculpting or other cosmetic procedures] and pushing the boundaries.

Let today be the day you stand strong in the limelight of your own truth and self-expression. After all, we all have only one life, so make the best of it and don't let your inhibitions get in the way.
