We’re all busy in the
morning, especially when you fell into temptation and got ‘5 more minutes’ of
sleep. So, when you’ve only got 10 minutes and you’ve got to run out the door,
it’s very tempting to skip breakfast and munch a muffin or a bagel in the car.
However, health specialists recommend a nutritious breakfast, with healthy proteins and complex
carbs. According to recent studies, a hearty breakfast can help you focus
(regardless of age) and lowers the production of bad cholesterol which means a
lower risk of heart diseases, diabetes, and other health problems.
Even more, a good
breakfast can help you lose weight and avoid putting it back on.
With so many
benefits, the only obstacle between you and a healthy lifestyle remains the
time. But we’ve got you covered! The five breakfast recipes below are quick to
make and don’t require too much supervision - the Instant Pot does most of the
work.
What could be easier
to make in the morning than scrambled eggs?
But you need to know
a few tricks in order to get the eggs fluffy and creamy (when cooking them in a
pan). Not to mention that the smell of cooked eggs and oil can get on your
clothes. So, why not avoid getting your office clothes smelly or burning the
eggs because you were helping the kids find their shoes?
This recipe is for scrambled eggs in the Instant Pot, and the result is heavenly fluffiness. You
can also get creative and add a bit of shredded cheese once the eggs are out of
the pot. It will be delicious!
#2: Frittata
A big breakfast can
fuel your first half of the day with lots of healthy nutrients. Combine this
with a nice cup of coffee or tea, and you’re set until lunch!
So, whenever you know
the morning is filled with meetings and headache, try a frittata. It’s packed
with protein from eggs, bacon, cheese, and veggies, and it’s incredibly easy to
make in an Instant Pot.
It also makes for a
perfect brunch, especially if you’re not going to be enjoying it alone!
A frittata is equally
appreciated by children and adults, so it’s the ideal dish to have whether
you’re eating with the family or guests.
If you want a hearty
breakfast for the entire family, this casserole recipe will get you out of
trouble. It has four healthy ingredients - eggs, hash browns, cheese, and
sausage - and it is gluten-free.
Of course, you can
add veggies or change the type of cheese and sausage, to adapt it to your
preferences. It works nicely with fresh tomatoes or a large salad on the side.
Also, broccoli or spinach is just as great of an option.
Given that this is a
rather consistent breakfast, we do recommend making it only once a week. Or, if
you know there’s a chance you might not make it to lunch.
#4: French Toast
Frech toast casserole
is a nice breakfast option when you want to spoil yourself (or the family).
However, it takes about an hour to cook in the oven. As such, the Instant Pot
offers a better option for French toast breakfast in half the time.
The result is just as
delicious as the oven casserole but it’s less fuss to prepare it and it only
takes about 30 minutes. Half an hour is important when you’re hungry or you’re
in a hurry to get out the door in the morning.
This is a fresh and
light breakfast with tons of flavors and texture, enjoyed by both adults and
children. The secret to its delicious taste stands in the freshness of the
fruits and home-made yogurt.
Luckily, anyone can
make yogurt at home with an Instant Pot, so you’ll only need the fresh fruits
to get the perfect breakfast. Try adding what’s in season, for the best flavor
and most nutrients. For instance, in the spring it’s best to add strawberries
and cherries while in the fall you have access to perfectly ripe apples.
Combine these with bananas, kiwi, and/or oranges and sweeten everything with a
bit of honey (just an idea, it’s not mandatory for this recipe).
The morning meal is
an excellent occasion to start the day as a family. Before everyone goes about
their day, you all gather in the kitchen to share a bite and a cup of coffee
(for the adults). It’s a nice start of the day and it can be an extra boost of
dopamine for each of you.
So, besides
delivering healthy nutrients to your bloodstream, breakfast is also an
important meal for the unity of the family.
