Therefore, Quaker partnered with
Yayasan Jantung Malaysia (YJM), embarking on the Quaker Smart Heart Challenge.
It’s a 30-day intervention programme, that aims to motivate and help Malaysians
manage their cholesterol levels, by incorporating 2 scoops or 8 tablespoons of
Quaker Oats daily provides 3g of Beta Glucan which helps lower cholesterol, as
part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol.

Why oats? Well studies showed
that the soluble fiber found in oats that helps to reduce low-density lipoprotein
(LDL) cholesterol level or usually referred to as ‘bad’ cholesterol by biding them
in our digestive tract. The daily consumption of Beta-Glucan can help lower
cholesterol, which consequently reduces the risk of heart disease.

Challenge was officially launched by Dr. Fazilah Shaik Allaudin, Senior Deputy
Director of the Medical Development Division at Medical Care Quality Section on
behalf of YBhg Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham bin Abdullah, Director General of Health,
Ministry of Health, Malaysia, at the Invito Hotel in Bangsar South, Kuala
Lumpur.

Allaudin delivered Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s speech, in which he gave
grave reminders about the alarming statistics.

Well, I did my cholesterol test
during the event and found out that my cholesterol level has increased to 6.83
which is quite high. Omg… that’s a no-no, I need to reduce it back to normal,
ganbatte! Now, I m qualify to join the 30-Day Challenge, yay!

Step 2: To register, select “I’m
ready” from the options and answer a few questions. you will receive a Pre-Challenge
screening test voucher.
Step 3: Go to any partner
pharmacies to get your cholesterol level checked for free or you can do it at Quaker
Smart Heart Challenge Roadshow.
