“Gossamer pop music within an
electronic landscape” by Clash. ‘Ready
For The Fall’, released January 31st, is Cara Hammond’s first release of 2020,
showing a taste of what’s to come for the soul-inspired, singer-songwriter. The
song (written in Stockholm with talented writers Tom Goren and Caroline
Ljungstrom) is a cinematic blend of pop and soul, featuring soaring strings
over a vinyl crackle and deep bass, that when combined with Cara’s unique
vocal, create the perfect setting for a new decade.
Cara Hammond Reveals Trance Inducing New Single ‘Ready For The Fall’ |
Of the single, Cara said: “Being
in your twenties is difficult and confusing as hell. There are so many life
changes, paths to choose, and heartbreaks to endure which help you figure out
who you are. ‘Ready For The Fall’ sums up those feelings in asking yourself if
you’re ready to take those chances. It’s everyone’s inner monologue, where our
mind is split between taking a leap of faith or playing it safe. It’s a way to
protect ourselves from getting hurt, 'cause life’s a bitch.”
Ready For The Fall by Cara Hammond
‘Ready For The Fall' also
reflects Cara's battle with the music industry as an up and coming singer-songwriter. As an artist, you have to throw everything you’ve got into the
unknown, so this song is Cara’s way of checking in with herself. Just a quick
“you got this”.
The reveal of the single comes with
the announcement of two new London shows, where Cara will be playing with her
full band, at The Water Rats on January 10th and The Bedford on January 21st.
In addition to these, Cara’s first festival appearances for 2020 have just been
announced. Cara will play Focus, Wales on 9th May, and Lowde Charity Festival
in Hampshire on 11th July.
This year’s previous singles
‘Good Times’, ‘Try To Love You’, ‘How I Feel’ and ‘Such A Mess’ picked up
support from no less than 11 New Music Friday playlists on Spotify around the
world - an incredible achievement for a brand new, independent British artist.
She was also featured in BBC Introducing’s Hotlist for 2019.
Cara describes her music as
soulful indie-pop, taking influence from her favorite artists, such as Lianne
La Havas, Dua Lipa, Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, and Ben Howard. Originally from
North Wales, she is now based in London and has been writing and performing
songs since she was 11 years old.
