Barcelona is a city
famous for so much. Its football team has long been regarded as the world’s best,
typified by the GOAT that continues to lead them, it is the home of modernist
architecture and Gaudi’s infamous cathedral, the Sagrada Familia. Transformed
by the 1992 Olympic Games, the Mediterranean city is a hub of tourism, but
somewhat surprisingly, it is also an international hub of craft beer, as Caña
magazine has revealed in their recent Barcelona craft beer guide.
Barcelona’s Five Best Craft Beer Bars |
Using the
comprehensive guide as a starting point, this is a definitive list of
Barcelona’s five best craft beer bars.
Barcelona Craft Beer Bar |
1. Biercab
A 30-tap craft beer bar that leads the way for this part of Barcelona’s Eixample district to be
known as Beerxample, Biercab is ranked third on Rate-Beer’s list of top
international beer bars, pulling in kegs from around the world with names like
Crooked Stave, Omnipollo, Cantillon and Evil Twin regularly arriving alongside
well-regarded local breweries on their revolving beer list.
2. Garage Beer
A stone’s throw from
Biercab, Garage Beer is the original brewpub of the well-known brewery who have
since expanded to a major facility on the edge of the city. Retaining much of
the party atmosphere that made Garage what it is today, the bar is full most
nights, with visitors from around the world diving into their world-renowned
hazy IPAs.

3. Ale&Hop
Ale&Hop is more
then your typical craft beer bar, boasting 10 rotating taps that change on a
weekly basis, bringing you the best that international beer has to offer. On
top of all that though, the El Born bar is also famous for its vegetarian and
vegan menu, which can be washed down with blondes, wheat, stouts, IPAs, and
more from some of the world’s leading breweries.
4. Mikkeller Bar
Barcelona
At the height of
Barcelona’s craft beer revolution, the historic city welcomed the iconic
Danish brand with open arms. Here 24 taps, with fresh beers shipped from
Mikkeller themselves, keep fans hydrated in a hip space which has a bold orange
and blue palette. Its menu is inspired by rustic Catalan cooking, and should
assist in keeping some of the stronger beers from going to your head. Expect to
find oddities like Spontanpeach and 1000 IPA, as well as selections from
Mikkeller friends To Øl, Omnipollo or Warpigs.
Kælderkold Craft Beer Bar, Barcelona |
5. Kælderkold
The odd name means
'cold basement’ in Danish and the tiny bar was founded upon a desire to bring
the spirit of Denmark to La Rambla. One of the city’s most well-established
craft beer bars, not only does Kælderkold boast 15 taps, this bar just off
Barcelona’s most famous street was a pioneer in creating a menu of beer
cocktails.
