A jazzy nite & lip smacking platters! Soaked in the soulful, smooth tunes of some of Malaysia’s most prominent jazz acts as SOULed OUT Kuala Lumpur (Hartamas) played host to International Jazz Day 2019 recently. Organized by some of the pioneers of jazz music in Kuala Lumpur – namely Junji Delfino, David Gomes and Michael Veerapen – the evenings were a spectacular celebration of music and community as close to 100 of Malaysia’s finest musicians gather for two days of non-stop jazz.

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30th as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. International Jazz Day is chaired and led by UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay and legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, who serves as a UNESCO Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and Chairman of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. The Institute is the lead non-profit organization charged with planning, promoting and producing this annual celebration.

Noted as the First Lady of Jazz in Malaysia, Junji Delfino has been bringing International Jazz Day 2019 @ SOULed OUT Kuala Lumpur (Hartamas) for the past 7 years in her mission to spread the good vibes of jazz across the nation. This International Jazz Day 2019 was held on on 30th April and 1st May, 2019 at SOULed OUT Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.

International Jazz Day 2019 in Kuala Lumpur featured acts such as BonaHop, Funkatorie, Orange, Semboyan, Kita Kita featuring Gina Panizales, Jess & Friends, Jazztified, The Seasons 4, The Shanghai Sisters, Yoshi, and, not to mention, one of the largest jazz ensembles in Malaysia, Big Band Story, which features a total of 19 members.

In conjunction with the festivities, SOULed OUT offered three sharing platters especially for both nights: The Beefeater Platter featured a delectable selection of meats fresh off the Chill N’Grill for RM109 and the Chook Platter for RM59 is a must try for poultry lovers while the Cheese Platter offered a selection of 6 different cheeses for RM69. To complement the platters, wines, sparkling wines, beers and cider are also available for a special price.
