My McD Turun Padang Day Experience

Hey! Can you imagine what is it like to work at one of McDonald’s Restaurant? Few days ago I was privileged to experience working one of McDonald’s Malaysia restaurants in Putrajaya on McD Turun Padang Day. So what is #McDTurunPadang and why is so special about it?

My McD Turun Padang Day Experience

Well, McD Turun Padang Day is an annual occasion or a special day organized by McDonald’s Malaysia on the 5th October to recognize the 12,000 strong McDonald’s restaurant crew members serving the customers. It’s a day where all McDonald’s staff, franchisees and business partners showed appreciation towards McDonald’s restaurant crew by working along with them nationwide.

So this year I was at McDonald’s Putrajaya on Friday 5th Oct together with some of their crew members for #McDTurunPadang Day. We started with a short introduction and briefing before our tour around the restaurant and then headed to the kitchen areas with apron and cap on.

At the kitchen areas we were briefed about the procedures of different sections, and the first thing we learnt was the right way to wash hands and every hour all the staff who work in the kitchen have to wash hands.

First, I was assigned to the ice-cream section together with one of their crew members. Then I moved to the drinks section, drive thru, counter and others. I was trained and guided me on how to prepare and serve. Omg… I tell you the orders and customers were non-stop, time passed by so fast when I was busy having fun there.

Now I understand there are many strict procedures, steps, standards and guidelines to follow especially on the cleanliness, quality and service working at McDonald’s restaurant. Plus there are many things I learnt on that day too.

It was an exciting and eye-opener experience working with the restaurant crew members. I began to appreciate them more and they are all amazing despite of so busy they still serve with smiles. The restaurant crew members and staff were friendly and helpful. I had a great experience and some feel-good-moments at McDonald’s on #McDTurunPadang Day

By the way, recently McDonald’s was accorded The Best Employer in Malaysia 2018 by AON, The Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2018 (Malaysia Edition) by HR Asia, and the Best Franchise Employer 2018 by Malaysia Franchise Awards.

The achievements are testament to McDonald’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP) Family & Friends; where the company treats their people as more than just co-workers, but more as extended family members and friends.

  2. I used to attend the same kind of 'training' at McD which they called 'Hands-On' at that time. We learn all sorts of terms like CAYG (Clean As You Go), FIFO (First In First Out), TLC (Tender Loving Care lo...haha) etc. and say Thank You when you acknowledging your colleagues. Believe it or not, most challenging part is drawing the ice-cream for Sunday Cone :)
