Heyo! Recently we
were at Pietro Ristorante Italiano for their creative and new U.S Potatoes Culinary Festival 2018 Menu. I have been to this restaurant before with my
family, the last time we tried their pasta and this round we had very interesting
dishes such as U.S. Potato Gnocchi with salted egg yolk butter and coriander
cured duck breast; savoury U.S. Potato and spring onion Churros with mamak
curry dipping; and others lip smacking dishes too.
I love this Italian
restaurant tucked in the quiet corner of Damansara Heights that surrounded by
lush greenery, such a hide-out in the city. As you know U.S Potatoes Culinary
Festival 2018 is happening now until end of July, 2018. There are 14 participating
restaurants in Kuala Lumpur serves up a wide and diverse repertoire / creation
of U.S. potatoes dishes and one of them is Pietro Ristorante Italiano.
Potatoes are an
indispensable source of nutrition. One 148 gram potato packs only 110 calories,
but 18% of the RDV (recommended daily value) of potassium and 45% of the RDV of
vitamin C. U.S. potatoes contain high “solids” and low sugar content; they are
more desirable in appearance, taste and texture.

This savoury U.S.
Potato and spring onion Churros with mamak curry dipping is like east meet
west. I love the crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside of this Churros,
when eat it on its own it has a hint of sweetness and when dipped it in the
mamak curry I tell you… it’s so yummy. I could not stop and it’s great for tea
time, snacks or as appetizer.

The U.S. Potato Gnocchi
with salted egg yolk butter and coriander cured duck breast is one of the
delicate creation from the chef. The gnocchi is made with U.S Potatoes its
soft, has a hint of sweetness with a kick from the salted egg yolk butter and blend
well with coriander cured duck breast. It’s a very special taste, I never knew
that salted egg yolk goes well with duck and gnocchi. Love this creation and
combination.

Apart from these
two U.S. Potatoes dishes, we also tried some of chef’s signature dishes such as
Pietro Chilli Crab, Salted Egg Spaghetti, Roasted Spring Chicken, Arugula &
Pomelo Salad, and Antipasti Platter that consist of creamy truffle potato,
spicy mussel, fruit salad, smoke salmon with capers, tomato & mozzarella and
fried calamari. Such a feast right!

This is my first
time eating chilli crab in an Italian Restaurant, and as you know the best way
to eat crab is using hands right. That’s the way we did it, that was fun thou.
Pietro Chilli Crab is one of their signature dishes and best-seller too. I love
the way they cooked it just right, not too sweet nor spicy and the crab is
fresh.
