We were back to Hong Kong again and this round we spent more time at the Ocean Park because we love the Christmas atmosphere there and also it’s their 40^th Anniversary Celebration. Here's my experience about the latest Ocean Park Hong Kong Christmas Sensation2017. Pssst… there are the 7 main attractions that not to be missed when you're there and also find out how and when you can enter the park for FREE.

Hey! do you know that Ocean Park Hong Kong opened since January 1977. Wow it has been 40 years connecting adults and children with nature and blend entertainment with education and conservation that brings memorable experiences.

Great! we kicked start our day early and glad that the weather was awesome ~ bright and breezy day. There were a flow of activities throughout the day in the park, now I am going to show you the highlights and those attractions for 2017 Christmas Sensation that you should not missed when you are there.

1. Mine Train Presented by Samsung Gear VR

Ocean Park Hong Kong Christmas Sensation will kick off on 11^th December 2017 with Hong Kong’s first-ever virtual reality (VR) rollercoaster, Mine Train presented by Samsung Gear VR. We were there during the launch and it was my first time riding a roller coaster with VR on. Totally a different experience compared to the normal roller coaster ride that I have tried. Two thumbs up to the VR rollercoaster Mine Train experience!

After putting on Samsung Gear VR headset, buckled up and ready to go! In front of me was a stunning Amazon adventure that synchronizes virtual movement to real motion will begins. Then the thrills begin with the rollercoaster speed, and the surroundings. We traveled into the natural environment of the Amazon rainforest, and come face-to-face with green anaconda, three-toed sloth, jaguar and a lot more amazing animals.

And then there was a sudden drop diving into the deep sea, as the rollercoaster dashes down in high-speed (abt 71km/hr). I can feel the impact… at that point of time, my heart skipped a beat, just let it go and fly. Throughout the ride I was screaming but I had lots of fun up there.

2. VR Arcade, VR Challenge Zone and VR Forest Adventure

So after the rollercoaster ride, we headed over to the VR Arcade and VR Challenge Zone which is also nearby. Well this area is more subtle and its air-conditioned. There are a few engaging ultra-realistic VR games that you can try on such as the classic Fruit Ninja, gun shooting, flying in the air, and also completing tasks on a hanging bridge. You also can have your cardio exercise there at the same time test your speed and dexterity in the hyper-speed bikes, boxing and basketball games too.

VR Arcade, VR Challenge Zone and VR Forest Adventure

As for the VR Forest Adventure is more like a VR experience whereby you will be immersed in 360-degree views of the Amazon rainforest, imagining yourself walking in the shade and rafting on the river, as well as experiencing tribal folk life. Enjoy the natural beauty of the rainforest in 360 degrees, see birds, butterflies flying and also learn about the importance of conservation.

3. Whiskers and Friends ~ Ocean Park’s Mascot

At Whiskers Harbour, The Waterfront taking photos with Ocean Park’s Mascot, Whiskers and Friends in Christmas attire at the Main Entrance to greet you. There will be a variety of street performances, dances around the Park, fun challenges to test the skills and minds of kids plus plenty of Christmas surprises and joy for everyone.

4. Garden of Romance

After all the thrilling rides and activities, it times to take things at an easier pace and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere here. So romantic especially in the evening with perfect winter atmosphere; imagine strolling the park hand in hand with your loved one, and taking photos or selfie. Here is the gigantic 40-foot Christmas Tree and there will be angelic Christmas choir performance every night. Together with falling snow, living statue performance, plus Santa Claus and his elves will also be waiting for you at the Santa’s Cottage.

The Garden of Romance is filled with heart-shaped topiaries, festive decorations and surrounded by path lights, is perfect for couples and families who want to experience a romantic Christmas.

5. Pinkio Festive Marketplace

Strolling around the park and buy some crafty souvenirs at this is a local Christmas market, Ocean Park x Pinkoi Festive Marketplace. You can find all kinds of accessories and homeware produced by Hong Kong designers. A total of 60 designers will take turn to join. 

These include illustrated goods by popular illustrator “PeiChung Illustation”, products that showcase Hong Kong culture designed by “Dogswork”, 3D puzzles of nostalgic Hong Kong-style diners designed by “Sweet Hong Kong”, unique tie dye collections by local brand “Giants Tie Dye”, leather accessories made by “JK Collection” and “Flame”, and more original designs.

You can go and take lots and lots of photos there with your loved one, friends and family plus indulge in the delicious feasts available at Neptune’s Restaurant.

I love this restaurant ambience and the panoramic undeesea view because Neptune’s Restaurant is situated beside the Grand Aquarium’s giant viewing panel.

Christmas Cheese Baked Lobster and Roasted Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing

Not only the view is great here, the restaurant also served Delightful Christmas Feast, mind you their Christmas Cheese Baked Lobster and Roasted Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing is lip-smacking and their dessert the Christmas Mushroom Hut melts my heart. The smooth, creamy and rich chocolate parfait with Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream and creamy marshmallows sealed the evening with a perfect and satisfying meal.

Neptune’s Restaurant is offering free admission on 10 selected dates on 10^th, 17^th , 23^rd to 29^th and 31^st December, 2017. You can enter the Park for free from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on 23^rd Dec, 2017 to 1^st January, 2018 and enjoy the Christmas feast at Neptune’s Restaurant with friends and family.
