Galito’s flame-grilled chicken from South Africa is now in Malaysia! Recently we tried some of Galito's signature dishes and one of them must be the lip-smacking, 24-hour marinated flame-grilled chicken with bold African flavours infused with a secret blend of herbs and spices. Not forgetting, the unique GaliBowl, Liver and Roll, chilli beans and also the addictive sweet potatoes chips.

Galito’s is a chain of international casual dining restaurant from Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in South Africa that started 1996 by Louis Germishuys. Today Galito’s operates 150 restaurants in 15 countries across continents. In Malaysia, Ri-Yaz Global Food is the master franchise holder for Galito’s. Ri-Yaz also holds the master franchise for Singapore and Indonesia.

When you order Galito’s Flame-Grilled Chicken you have a choice of Galito’s heat spiciness either lemon & herbs, mild, hot and extra hot. For me I prefer the hot or extra hot, because I love spicy food.

Plus Galito’s also has a set of peri-peri sauces ranging from Lemon & Herbs, Garlic, Mild, Hot and Extra Hot peri-peri sauce. For me, the Hot and Extra Hot peri-peri sauce give me the kicks and tickle my taste bud. However, the Lemon & Herbs peri-peri sauce is special, it is mild but burst with citrus and herbs aroma.

Chicken livers served with toasted rolls and butter. The chicken liver is flavourful, bold and thick. This appetizer is an acquired taste, I rarely eat chicken liver but this one is interesting. I ate it with the toasted roll and taste quite good actually. It has creamy finishing, like pate.

Galito’s the signature dish and must try. The Flame-Grilled Chicken is 24-hour marinated with bold African flavours, herbs and spices. As mentioned we can choose the level of spiciness lemon & herbs, garlic, mild, hot and extra hot. That day I tried the mild, it has a light herbs aroma with very minimal level of spiciness. The chicken meat texture is juicy and aromatic, dipped with Extra Hot peri—peri sauce, yummm lip smacking.

GaliBowl is one of the most interesting dishes that I tried at Galito’s. It’s a bowl of opporto rice mixed with grilled chicken cubes, spinach, and topped with Galito’s Sishebo sauce. The whole combination is just right, it is not heavy nor too light. I like the rice, it is very aromatic and tasty, to me the texture is like basmathi rice. This is interesting, I actually added a bit of Mild Peri-Peri Sauce to give a bit of ummpph to the overall flavours.

Grilled boneless chicken breast burger in soft fluffy toasted bun and mayo-dip, sliced tomatoes and lettuce, served with sweet potatoes chips as side. The burger overall portion is satisfying, I love the sweet potatoes chips, crispy outside and fluffy inside plus dipped with Galito’s Hot Peri-Peri Sauce is superb.

Spinach is one of my favourite sides and also POPEYE’s favourite food too. It is cooked with onions, garlic, potatoes together with Galito’s special sauce and served warm. I like spinach with grilled chicken anytime of the day; it’s my perfect combo kind of healthy meal.

Three types of beans served chilled, lightly flavoured and good combination. I like it because it’s another healthier options that loads with fiber.

Overall, the Galito’s Flame-Grilled Chicken not only its tasty, aromatic but also healthier option because it is less oily, fat and also lightly flavoured only. Another unique dish at Galito’s that you should try is the GaliBowl, I love the aromatic rice with herbs and spices topped with grilled chicken cubes. They served pretty healthy sides too such as spinach, the chilli beans and corn on the cob.

Galito’s is another great options for those seeking for healthier meal when dining out, their flame-grilled chicken with sides like spinach and chilli beans is perfect combo and satisfying. Plus the price range is also affordable.
