6 Steps You Should Know Before Starting Your Holidays
Yess!!! Hari
Raya is approaching and for many of us; it simply means counting down the days
till we start filling our stomachs with all those mouthwatering ‘Kuih Raya’ and
dishes that we can never ever resist. And while we dream of these delicious
food, we tend to ‘lupa’ the finer things before we travel for the holidays.
6 Steps You Should Know Before Starting Your Holidays |
So,
before you start your “hey-hey nak balik kampung” journey, here are 6 details
you must follow-lah!
Tip #1-
Better to be safe than sorry!
Before
you start your journey, make sure you inspect your vehicle first. Best do this
a month in advance to avoid the balik kampung rush-lah! Besides that, check
your tire pressure, radiator, engine oil, air-condition, coolant and so forth
(I could go on but the Uncle mechanic is not my friend).
Oh ya,
on top of everything else, “jangan lupa tune” to the most important of them
all, the radio! You wouldn’t want to miss singing along to Sudirman’s iconic
‘Balik Kampung’ tune, would you?
Tip #2 –
Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it!
Standout
among your friends and family this Raya celebration with an on point Baju Raya!
Bet you want to be the center of attention when it comes to family photos,
selfies and group shots, right! Trust us when we say that today’s modern take
on an old classic Baju Raya can turn heads, and meets the “Gaya, Mutu dan
Keunggulan” standards.
But if
you don’t have one and still stuck for inspiration, well these days the, ahem, fashion-challenged
among us have another option. Look for design inspirations among your favourite
Instagram accounts, follow YouTube enthusiasts who’ll guide you in putting your
look together, or even find a way to make Atok’s old clothes relevant again as
a retro hipster raya do for yourself!
Tip #3 –
Eat, drink be merry for tomorrow we… MAKAN!
Hari
Raya feasting is surely on your plate, errr, we meant agenda, given that this
is the time of the year for family reunions – with food! But, with so many
relatives and friends to visit (each with a spread waiting for you), it's easy
to get tempted by all the delicious festive dishes – from serunding, ketupat,
kuah kacang to all the lovely kuih raya kan?
Resisting
temptation is never easy, but resist you must if you want to jaga badanlah! Our
suggestion - try portioning out your food – or eat moderately, at the very
least 3-5 times a day. and do light
workouts; pushups, jumping jacks, sit-ups to burn those calories!
For
quick tips, cue up those work-out YouTube videos and have them handy on your
phone.
Tip #4 –
Create your own adventure quest
When it
comes to travelling on endless highways or passing through kampung roads, there
are times where you may get bored. Therefore, having the right online games is
a must! Minecraft, Temple Run 2, Roblox, Tic-Tac-Toe or Charades that will
guarantee to keep the adults and kids occupied – or simply put them to sleep.
Even
better – get onto shared games and challenge family members and friends who are
also travelling. An epic journey + an epic battle – with a Raya feast at the
end. What more could you want to get the festive period started with a bang!
Just
make sure that your LTE is activated in your phone to enjoy even faster,
reliable connectivity for uninterrupted playtime. And with never ending data
plans, you never worry about running over your quota – so hone those gaming
skills to impress those waiting at the kampong!
Tip #5 –
Memories, from the corner of my eyes…
The need
to keep all our family and friends updated on our movements throughout
Aidilfitri, in pictures or videos, is common these days. Be it what we wore
(#OOTD) to what we binged on (Netflix, food, yummy Raya sirap’s, kuih raya) and
who we bumped into, right down to how many duit raya packets we collected this
year, to playing the childhood games like congkak and dam under the coconut
tree – social media keeps us connected day in, day out.
With
Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp and Instagram as sure-win platforms, there are no reasons for us to not take
advantage of taking videos! You can now share your memories, and heartfelt raya
greetings on video calls, recorded video messages, or even your very own
Youtube videos! That lil mobile phone in your hand is a mobile studio – and you
my friend might be the next big Internet thing!
Tip #6 –
To data or not, that is the question!
If
you’ve been following all our ‘petuas’ (tips) so far; then you are ready to set
sail back to your hometown. But wait, did it suddenly dawn on you that you may
not have enough data to support you all the way through the Hari Raya break, or
while in at the ‘kampung’?
Jangan
risau kawan-kawan! We know a provider that offers never-ending data and high
speed LTE coverage too. Now, did I hear someone shout out “webe”????
At webe,
we are continuously rewarding our customers with the best value for their
mobile experience. Ultimately, our goal is to give our customers the
flexibility to choose and the peace of mind to stay in touch with their loved
ones at very attractive rates.
Aidilfitri
is a time when families and friends reunite, near and far, young and old. With
that, webe wishes all Malaysians a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and remember
to stay connected with your loved ones near and far today; whether by
face-to-face ‘bersalaman’, saying ‘I love you’ through mobile or a simple
“Aidilfitri’ video greetings.
