Those of us with oily complexions are aware of how hard it is to maintain a smooth, fresh and matte makeup look. It’s frustrating that our makeup can only last a few hours due to the oil on our skin in case you haven’t put on an oily skin foundation. Having a stack of blotting papers in your handbag and applying your makeup again might be effective for 30 minutes. Even blotting pads which are more costly do not provide excellent results. If you are caught inside the office, school or a function where you are unable to leave, you remain oily with huge blocked pores.
How to Make Your Foundation Don't Look Oily |
Solution
for a Fresh Look despite Having Oily Skin
Most
makeup artists will suggest using a primer to combat oily skin. Primers are an
ideal skin prepping product that provides your skin with a perfect and smooth
canvas. Primers are formulated to soak up oil, make the skin smooth and form a
smooth surface for you to apply other cosmetics. The best part is that primers
enable your oily complexion to maintain a matte look for hours.
Keep in
mind that in order for primers to work effectively, it must be applied to clean
and oil-free skin. This is the reason why most makeup artists suggest that you
wash your face before applying makeup.
For oily
skin, choose a primer that is water-based and oil-free. You should also choose
your other makeup products with features that match your primer. This will
ensure that they will work together when applied to your face. For example, if
you choose a water-based primer, also choose a water-based foundation and
concealer.
Maintaining
a Matte and Oil-Free Look
No
matter how good your primer or foundation is, it will not be able to stop the
new oil that is produced on your skin throughout the day. However, the good
news is that there is a solution for this and its not that hard to do either.
The trick here is to use the right powder.
Powders
are great at absorbing oil. They also help to seal in your makeup, making them
last longer. They are lightweight which makes them ideal for applying on top of
your makeup. For oily skin, choose a powder that is non-comedogenic, oil-free
and has buildable coverage. In addition, look for ingredients such as mica,
kaolin, zinc oxide and silica. These ingredients are extremely effective at
absorbing oil.
I hope
this post was able to help you understand more about primers and powders. They
are great products for controlling your oily complexion. Remember, if you want
your foundation to last longer, look better and shine-free, use a good primer
prior to foundation and set your makeup with powder afterward.
