Phase 2: Training Days with Coach Edan Syah, Road To Tokyo Marathon 2017
“I
believe if you keep your faith, you keep your trust, you keep the right
attitude, if you’re grateful, you’ll see God open up new doors” by Edan Syah. My
training days for Road to Tokyo Marathon 2017 with Coach Edan Syah from Smart
Athletics Club continues… If you follow my Instagram @sunshinekelly2988 or Facebook Sunshine Kelly I am sure you will
notice that I have been training for this marathon for 5 weeks already. Time

Phase 2:
Training Days with Coach Edan Syah
My Road To Tokyo Marathon 2017
|
This
question has been running in my head and I got butterflies in my stomach when I
think about Tokyo Marathon. However, throughout the 5 weeks training with coach
Edan Syah my confidence and endurance level has gradually increased. I
definitely can see and feel that there are a lot of improvements in my running
in terms of endurance, running form, speed and distance. I am able to
consistently run a longer distance at my pace without stopping.
Training Days for Tokyo Marathon 2017 |
I never
miss any training session with Smart Athletics Club on every Wednesday evening
at MPSJ stadium. To be honest I really enjoyed the training session because
each time I learned the right and smart techniques on how to run a marathon. I began
to understand my body movements and reactions better. Although some training
sessions were quite challenging but at the end of it I am very satisfied
because I pushed myself and I know that I can do it!

Besides
that, during the training I also get to know more runners. Their running
experiences and achievements really inspire me. There’s lots of hard work,
commitment and determination to finish the race strong and continuously to
strive for PB.
With Coach Edan Syah and Jolene Hong from Smart Athletics Club |
My Wednesday
training sessions with Smart Athletics Club by Coach Edan Syah kicked start
with tempo run on week 1, than did the interval run on week 2, followed by hill
training on week 3, fartlek on week 4 and lastly was the progressive long run
on week 5. So every week I learned the different running techniques, increase
my distance and pace gradually.
Long Slow Distance (LSD) with Smart Athletics Club runners in Putrajaya |
On my own, every weekend I did my Long Slow Distance (LSD) gradually increased from 8km, 10km, 15km and 21km. And weekdays I either run in the park or hit the gym treadmill for a shorter distance like 5km.
Are you ready for Tokyo Marathon 2017? |
Are you ready for Tokyo Marathon 2017? Yes, I am ready to take the challenge and hit another new milestone. The weather forecast in Tokyo during the race on 26th Feb 2017 is about 1 to 11 degree Celsius with cloudy and windy. I am afraid of cold and hope that my body will able to sustain and adapt with the weather. I never run in such a cold weather before.
Not Just A Marathon |
For Tokyo Marathon 2017, I plan to run consistently at pace 8 and hope that my body able to take the cold weather. Never give up, sustain till the end and finish the race strong.
