How are you feeling today, lethargic or energetic? Well it all
depends on your lifestyle such as what you do, eat and think. For a healthier
and happier me, I took up the Heart
Health Challenge by Nestlé Omega
Plus®. I may not be perfect nor there yet but I know that I am better than
yesterday. And you can do it too…
Heart Health Challenge by Nestlé Omega Plus® |
With our busy lifestyle and food culture that can easily lead us
to adopt many unhealthy habits. Do you know that heart disease is on the rise among
Malaysian as young as in their 20’s and cardiovascular disease is responsible
for one-quarter of all hospital deaths. Nearly half of heart attack patients
(45%) have three or more risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes,
smokers or have abnormal cholesterol levels.
According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2015 by
Ministry of Health; 1 out of 2 Malaysian adults are suffering from high
cholesterol. And it is sad to know that 42% of Malaysians who have high
cholesterol are below the ages of 40 years old. Are you one of them?
Workout in the Gym or Outdoor |
Prevention is better than cure! Love your heart and health. I
believe that heart health care should start early and don’t wait until it’s too
late. So start to embrace and cultivate healthy lifestyle in your family. The 3
key factors to manage your heart health holistically are physical activity,
medical check-up and balanced diet.
3 Key Factors to Manage Our Heart Health Holistically
Exercise Regularly |
1. Physical Activity
You don’t have to be a pro in sport to achieve this, all you need is
a regular exercise every day. It could be walking, running, workout, yoga,
dancing, swimming or any workout that you enjoy. Usually I go for a quick run
in the morning or after work then during the weekend I will participate in running
events or yoga classes. It is more fun to exercise together with family and
friends so do encourage them to join you too.
2. Medical Check-up
Well, even if you don’t have any heart issues or major sickness,
it’s important to get your yearly heart health and medical check-ups with your
doctor. This will give you a peace of mind and early detection can save life.
Eat Balanced Diet and Moderately |
3. Balanced Diet
Always remember you are what you eat. I know there are many
temptations out there. You can have your cheat day once a while but most of the
days eat a balanced diet. Try to fill half your plate with vegetables and fruits,
consume milk with added plant sterols to block the absorption of cholesterol into
the bloodstream.
As mentioned earlier, besides the 3 factors of holistic health
management we can also manage our cholesterol levels by adding plant sterols to
our diet. Plant sterols are considered to be the most effective single food
that can lower cholesterol as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Nestlé Omega Plus® is the only milk that has Acticol®, plant sterols that help lower cholesterol by blocking the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream |
Plant sterols can be found in minimal amounts in grains,
vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds but you may have to consume very
large amounts in order to meet the daily requirement of 1.2g of plant sterols
in order to have an effect on your cholesterol level.
Drink 2 glasses of Nestlé Omega Plus® milk a day to manage our cholesterol levels |
By taking 2 glasses of Nestlé Omega Plus® milk a day can help to manage
our cholesterol levels. It is equivalent to plant sterols found in 255 tomatoes
or 126 carrots. Nestlé Omega Plus® is the only milk that has Acticol®, plant
sterols that help lower cholesterol by blocking the absorption of cholesterol
into the bloodstream.
