Hey do you like Kelantanse food such as nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, nasi tumpang, laksam and others? If yes you are at the right place. Few weeks ago, we went to
satisfy our cravings at TOKB Café, short for Taste of Kota Bharu café. This is Malaysia’s
first military inspired concept café that serves tantalizing Kelantanese fare prepared
by the two head chefs, namely Puan Norma Binti Salleh from Kelantan, loving dubbed
Kak Ma by all who know her and Lucas Lee one of the two founders of the café.

This café is very interesting and worth a visit, its part café and
part viewing gallery with various wartime memorabilia. The history behind this
café literally got its beginnings from ‘history’. “On 8 December 1941, Kota
Bharu was invaded by the Japanese. Unknown to most, the infamous attack on
Pearl Harbour only took place 70 minutes later, and World War II was declared.
This point is left our in many history books and we feel that TOKB Café
provides an opportunity to learn more about the major role Kota Bharu played in
the early years.” said Bernard Tung, Director of TOKB Café.

Overall, I like their Nasi Kerabu and the sambal is flavorful and spicy enough (cukup rasa and pedas) for me. It’s a relaxing place to sit and do your work or even just to get
some respite whilst fueling up with good yet affordable comfort food. Their
food and drink prices start from RM1.20 and go no higher than RM17.90.
