White Horse Tavern Ampang @ Amp Walk Mall

Recently we went to a new place in Ampang, White Horse Tavern Bar & Restaurant which located at the corner ground floor of Amp Walk Mall along Jalan Ampang and also the embassies. It’s a cozy English Tavern and family restaurant with spacious dining area, kids corner, complimentary kids menu, deli counter, ice cold beers, premium scotches and an extensive menu of delicious food prepared by Chef Yogi.

White Horse Tavern Ampang opened in late 2015 with ample parking. The place is also perfect to host a party, celebration, events or elegant dinner followed by a great after party. They also have a live band on Friday’s, pub quizzes, Salsa nights and other events.

The BBQ Chicken Wings is great for anytime from lunch to supper and it even go so well as finger food with drinks. The savoury grilled chicken wings glazed with generous house signature BBQ sauce.

This is another must try appetizer, grilled portobello mushrooms stuffed with mozzarella cheese and wrapped in bacon. Some light snacks and perfect finger food together with your drinks.

This is our first main, Chef Yogi’s signature creation. The perfectly grilled pork ribs glazed with pure honeycomb all the way from Cameron. The meat is tender and caramelized with honey and BBQ sauce. It’s served with grilled corn on the cob, jacket potato and a choice of sauce (BBQ, Black Pepper Mushroom or Hellfire XL Sauce). The Hellfire XL Sauce is my preference because I like my ribs to be spicy to give me that kick.

The only place to get this unique Honeycomb Glazed Pork Ribs is only at White Horse Tavern. Kindly take note that this dish is only available after 12noon from Mondays to Saturdays. If you would like to try it, please make reservation to avoid disappointment.

This is also one of their popular dish, if you are a roast pork lover than this is for you. The portion is quite generous. The pork knuckle is served deboned with crispy streak bacon, creamy spicy mustard, prune and apple compote and jacket potatoes. If you prefer to debone it yourself as you eat then you have to inform the waiter when you order. The meat is juicy and tender with the crispy pork skin.

The Roast Pork Knuckle takes about 30 minutes to prepare and only available after 6pm from Monday to Saturday.

Here comes the juicy and meaty grilled pork burger which is Chef Yogi’s second most popular signature creations. The flavourful and juicy 180gm thick pork patty The 180gm perfectly grilled juicy patty coated with the Hellsfire XL sauce truly satisfied the burger lover cravings. It is served with fries, salad, coleslaw, caramelized onion. I like to dip the fries with the house specialty Hellfire XL Sauce. Be warned the sauce is spicy and has layers of heat that build up as you eat. Just can’t stop eating it.

You can never go wrong with breakfast pizza, I personally like the Dad’s Breakfast Pizza because it’s perfect from breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper and snack also. I don’t mind eating this breakfast dish anytime of the day. The crispy thin crust pizza loaded with eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, hash browns and cheddar cheese. Then drizzled with a bit of Hellfire XL Sauce will be perfect.

The Deep Dish Alfredo Pizza is for fish lovers. This is the grilled fin fish pizza loaded with melted Gouda cheese and cream. Add some chilli flakes and pepper sauce if you like it spicy.

If you are craving for homemade pies you have it also. The flaky crusty pie crust is filled with generous amount of chicken meat in creamy gravy. It’s served with mashed potatoes, sautéed veggies and Roast Gravy Sauce.

If you prefer beef, they also served minced beef pie. The portion is generous and it’s served with mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables and Roast Gravy Sauce.

Fin fish served with a generous bed of creamy mashed potatoes, chopped leeks, carrots and zucchini in cheesy white sauce.

We ended the night with a cut of Bread and Butter Pudding with homemade caramel sauce as my dessert. As mentioned this is just a cut a small portion from the actual serving portion because I am too full to finish the while dessert.

There is a well-stocked Deli Counter near the bar. It’s refreshed almost daily and has an extensive selection of fresh marinated and non-marinated meats plus sides that you can choose from and get it grilled especially for you.

Sunday Roast

The White Horse Tavern also does a mean of Sunday Roast from 1am to 10pm every Sunday. You can relax with your friends and family and enjoy an authentic British Sunday Roast over ice-cold pints or bottles of your favourite beer or drink of choice.

Overall we had a good time and great food at the White Horse Tavern. This is a cozy place to relax over a cold drink & hot food and catch up with friends, family. Their mantra is simple, good food brings great happiness and if Chef Yogi is not satisfied with what is made, it does not get served.
