Melaka, here we come! It was a fun day trip and shopping spree with friends at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, located just outside A’Famosa Resort Melaka. How many of you have been to this newly opened outlet village? For those bargain hunters like me, of course I am eager to check out this new place and it is worth to shop at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet? 1. Why We Shop At Outlets

Well, as you know we would do our best to stretch our ringgit. It doesn’t mean that we stop shopping completely, how could that be possible? Affordability is the key. Some of the items are cheaper at the outlets. It does not necessary have to be very cheap but reasonable price with quality and versatility is more important.

Oh, please be reminded that shopping during sale or at outlets does not means we can save. Sometimes we end up buying things we don’t really need and we don’t use them. Impulse shopping is dangerous. Buy what we need and what we will use or wear.

There are now over 300 established outlets around the world predominantly in the US and Europe but with rapid growth in Asia. We fully recognize the benefits of outlet shopping as a complement to full price shopping malls and online retail.

2. How to Get There from Kuala Lumpur

We went there by coach from Kuala Lumpur, use North South Highway from Sungai Besi Toll and exit Alor Gajah Interchange and continue into Jalan Kemus / Simpang Empat. If the traffic is smooth its takes about one and half hour to arrive. There are also daily coach from Singapore, KL, KLIA, KLIA2 and Melaka Central.

3. What To Expect & What Can You Buy

The outlet village offers over 60 fashion, sport attire, children apparel, shoes, bags, luggage, beauty, fragrance, optical and accessories brands in some 180,000 sq.ft. The outlet is set in an open air mall featuring a lake, fountains, carousel and windmill with architecture loosely themed on Malacca’s Dutch heritage. There are more than 1,500 free carpark spaces.

4. The Brands Available

The Freeport A’Famosa Outlet was officially launched on 5^th Dec and we were there a day after the launch. Some of the store are still under renovation and expected all the stores to fully operate before this month end. 

There are more than 60 brands such as Forever 21, Cotton On, Triumph, Levi’s, Melinda Looi, Vero Moda, Only, Esprit, Sacoor Brothers, Playboy, U.S. Polo, Chai Fashion Outlet, Luv Lux, G2000, Camel, Young Hearts, Poney, Toy World, Curiosity Fashion, Nike, Stay Fit, Aviva, Brooks, Li-Ning, Puma, Rip Curl, Geox, Wonder Rococo, Sembonia, Samsonite, Skechers, Elle, Cosas United, Hyper Gear, Crocs, Aivoria, Florsheim, Naquirkee, Obermain, Hush Puppies, Mood Board, Carlo Rino, Daphne, Clarks, Optical 88, Folli Follie, Star Ted, City Chain and many more.

5. What Is Hot or Good to Buy There

The first thing I did was walked through the whole outlet village and had a quick view plus take some photos of each store that opened on that day. Then the second round was the real shopping time where I kept my camera and just concentrate on what I want to buy. Women with a mission, shopping!

Nike Store @ Freeport A’Famosa Outlet 

Well, based on my observation Nike store has the longest queue and it so obvious. Then followed by Puma and the rest of the stores are quite occupied as well especially the Sacoor Brothers, Forever 21, Cotton On, Esprit, G2000 and other. The Luv Lux is the outlet that has all the branded handbags, apparel and accessories such as Versace, Moschino, Love Mochino and others. 

Vero Moda @ Freeport A’Famosa Outlet 

If you are looking for really good bargain and don’t mind the off season clothes then you can try Vero Moda and ONLY. Some of my friend bought a dress for lea than RM60. Maybe by now there will be more stores opened and more great bargain.

6. F&B

There were not that many F&B outlets yet. After all the shopping and the photo shoots we took a break and had our tea break at Zang Toi café. I tried their pandan banana cake and their signature ice tea. I think there is food court or food truck at the end of the street somewhere near Esprit and Only.

7. ATM

I thought all the stores we can pay by credit card, not all really. So happened that day, Forever 21 line was down and we have to pay by cash only. Lucky there are ATM machines, it’s my rescue. Please take note, the ATM and CDM machines are located at the entrance opposite the Customer Service office.

8. Other Facilities Around

For those who going with family, you might want to overnight or stay longer to explore Melaka. The A’Famosa Resort has hotels, condotel and also villas available with Theme Park and Golf Course. It’s a complete vacation spot for the whole family.

9. Shopping Tips at Outlets

Here are some shopping tips at the outlets. Before you go check their website for an overview and get to know what brands and product categories are available. Plan your shopping list and budget as well. Always go for items that you like and that you will wear them plus easy to mix and match instead of trend or price. There is no point buying something because its cheap but at the end you don’t wear or use them. If you manage to get the items that you want at a real bargain or cheap, then BINGO!!! Grab it before someone else, haahaha...

Have your meal before you shop and go early because by noon the weather is getting hot and the crowds will make you lethargic. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and preferably 2 pieces instead of dress or rompers or jumpsuit. This will makes it easier for you to try out the clothes too.

Here are my Style with Shoestring outlook of the day (#OOTD), top is from ONLY at RM29.90 and skirt and black studded sling bag are from Forever 21 at RM90 each with Buy 2 Get 1 Free promo. I got another beige sling bag for free, I bought an Esprit handbag and a denim skirt from Cotton On also. All in, my shopping is about RM400 slightly over my budget of RM350, but I got the items that I like.
