Festival Atmosphere Despite of Standard Chartered KL Marathon Cancelled

Although Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015 (#SCMKL2015) was cancelled due to the haze condition in Malaysia fans and runners showed their support by coming in droves to Dataran Merdeka including myself. API readings in Klang Valley escalating to unhealthy levels and it continues up till today. 

Well at the #SCMKL2015 race day although we did not run but we had fun meet up some of the runners and friends there. At the same time collected my medals, for those who sign up the full marathon they collected their finisher t-shirts as well. Many of the enthusiastic volunteers were still all smiles, cheerfully guiding waves of arrivals to the right collection points. 

Cheery announcers, pumping music and multitudes of selfies as well as groufies by runners keen to enjoy themselves while showing their support for the cancelled event created a festive feel at historic Dataran Merdeka as early as 6 a.m. 

Marriage proposal at Dataran Merdeka at SCMKL2015 

There was even a marriage proposal at Dataran Merdeka during the collection. Idrus Ahmad popped the question to Trias Nuriartu in front of his supportive friends and a cheering crowd.

The Standard Chartered KL Marathon was set to host 35,000 runners who would have run on routes featuring some of Kuala Lumpur’s most famous landmarks. Alright that’s about the #SCMKL2015 look forward to Standard Chartered KL Marath 2016 soon.
