The journey to conquer my fear of public speaking wasn’t easy but
I know I can do it. To be honest I have stage fright, every time when I am on
stage I have butterflies in my stomach and sweat. I felt so nervous, my brain
frozen and I will utter the wrong words. OMG… did you have the same fear as me?
How to overcome stage fright and be a good public speaker?
I really admire those who can spontaneously grab a mic, take over
the stage and engaged with the audience so effortlessly. Sigh… I am a shy and introvert person since
childhood but when I entered the competitive working environment it somehow
changed me. I get to know more friends, colleagues and people from all walks of
life. I remembered my first public speaking at my ex-company event wasn’t that good.
It was my first time so I consoled myself I do better.
All I need is to Fight my Fear! This was my game-changer. I set my
goal and push myself to be more outspoken, sporting and outgoing. The first
person that inspired and encouraged me was my ex-boss, she a natural born
public speaker. Every time she is on stage I would be like wow!!! But she told
me it’s all about practice, preparation and confidence. True.
Since then I began to attend series of team building, motivation
and public speaking trainings. From there I gained more skill and
self-confidence. Last year I was one of the speakers at Japan Beauty Week. It
was a great experience to share my beauty tips, thoughts and the trend of
cosmetics industry in Malaysia in public at the concourse Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
We also conducted beauty workshops and sharing sessions with my readers and
fans. There were many passerby, shoppers and tourists as well.
It was never easy to conquer my fear of stage fright, every
initiative and step helps to build my self-confidence. Keep practicing and
improving by non-stop self-learning. Now I am learning the tips and tricks of public
speaking through internet. There are so many information and videos to guide us
online. I love to watch the inspiring and motivational talks on YouTube.
Having said that, I need unlimited data to stay connected
especially when I am viewing inspiring and motivational talks on YouTube. I
found out that P1’s new #ReadytoP1ay

your goal?
I'm happy that you're slowly overcoming your stage fright and that you're learning more on how to be more comfortable speaking in front of a crowd. It's admiring actually.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, a free internet to try the service is a good way to encourage customers to try them out. :)
I was a shy girl once in my life, too. I don't know how I've come to love public speaking. I tell those who have stage fright that they always have something interesting to share. And wouldn't you love to jump into a conversation when you have so many ideas you want to impart? It's good that you watch Youtube videos that can help you become a motivational speaker. Good thing there's free internet service that you can rely on.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful, you did great there conquering for fear to speak in front of an audience. Press on and soon, public speaking will come naturally to you. All the best!
ReplyDeleteSelf-confidence should be taught during childhood days and it can be polished when the times come. Great that conquered your fear in public speaking.
ReplyDeleteWooow this is such a lovely event! Also congrats on facing your problems with public speaking! I'm sure it was a great experience! :)
ReplyDeleteI am also not a very good spontaneous public speaker. If I need to lecture, everything should be written down on paper and the script is laid in front of me. I really think extemporaneous speaking is really an inborn talent not everyone has.
ReplyDeletei'm horrible at public speaking too. project presentation in school used to be my greatest fear and i literally shake (my limbs) while i speak in front of just my classmates and teacher.
ReplyDeleteglad you managed to overcome your fear!
Congratulations on stepping out of your comfort zone. I am horrible at speaking and I hope, like you, I'll be able to overcome my fear.
ReplyDeleteI guess everyone has the fear to do public speaking. But, when we overcome it, we can take control of it. I can do good in Chinese public speaking, but in English I still need to put on more effort.
ReplyDeleteGreat that you are making an effort to overcome that fear babe - go for it and all the best!
ReplyDeleteI have stage fright when I am in grades school. But I surpassed it all, because our school develop us to be more active and more progressive in stage acting. And as years go by, I am used to going up to the stage and have an impromptu speech.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you've conquered your fear of public speaking. The P1 package looks like a good deal.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that you have overcome your fear of public speaking. I am sure it is not so easy but you did it.
ReplyDeleteLol... I initially thought you are going to write about your BKK trip because the first photo looks like the one we see in the hotel! But I'm glad you conquered your fear to speak in the public!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in college, I had stage fright. We had public speaking subject and I will skip that class before, lol! But after changing course and became a guitatist in a childrens choir, I overcome my stage fright
ReplyDeletegood to know that you are in the process of getting rid of 'public speaking 'fear.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same problem. I get shy and conscious when I'm on stage and when the crowd's attention is on me.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you overcome your fear! now it's my turn to overcome mine! I used to participate in speeches in high school but somehow , as i grew older i became more self concious
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand you. Although I am a good publuc speaker I still feel shy at first but then after a min or two I get used to my audience.
