Chibi Maruko Chan Land


Moshi! Moshi! We were at Chibi Maruko Chan Land @ Tokyo Street let's play some games. Well, it was Tokyo Street 4th Anniversary celebration with the first ever appearance of popular Japanese icon, Chibi Maruko Chan in Malaysia. Chibi Maruko Chan is a well-known Japanese manga and television series that depicts the everyday life of a young girl, promoting friendship and family ties.

Tokyo Street 4th Anniversary kicked start with the energetic Wadaiko drum performance and officially launched by Puan Sri Cindy Lim, Deputy Chairman of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and His Excellency Makio Miyagawa, Ambassador of Japan. In an ode to Japanese tradition, a sake breaking ceremony known as ‘Kagami Biraki’ was done to symbolise good fortune and celebrations.

The celebrations continued as Japanese manga icon – Chibi Maruko Chan appeared to greet the excitable audience and partake in a cake-cutting ceremony.

Summer Dance Performance @ Matsuri Summer Fair, Pavilion KL

The guests, patrons, shoppers at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur were invited to dance along during the ‘Summer Dance Performance’ also deemed as the ‘Happy Dance’ by the Japanese. And some of them immersing themselves in the Matsuri Summer Fair at the Bukit Bintang entrance that had game booths featuring Japanese stacking, ring toss, boxing and a hammer game.

The crowd then adjourned to Tokyo Street for first in Malaysia ‘Chibi Maruko Chan Land’ where Japanese games such as wanage, superball fishing and yoyo fishing are available.

The Tokyo Street 4th Anniversary celebration runs from 29th July to 9th August. Throughout this period, you can visit Tokyo Street to enjoy authentic Japanese games and food. Attractive prizes from Tokyo Street are to be won with RM150 spent at Tokyo Street or RM300 spent at specialty stores.
