Tonight Dinner with Jasmine! Basmathi King. Jom makan and join me
for dinner. Are you a rice person? Well, rice has been a staple food source especially
for us, Asians. How many of you must eat rice every day? Yes or no? Well, I can go without rice
for a few days but after that I will be craving for it. For tonight’s dinner
can you guess what rice I cooked using the beras basmathi?
Tonight Dinner with Jasmine! Basmathi King |
Today was a busy day so I decided to cook rice at home
and stop by bazaar Ramadan Shah Alam Seksyen 13 to pack some dishes on my
way home. I believe many of you will do the same, especially on weekdays for
working urbanites. Rice we can cook at home and dishes we tapau (take-away or pack).
Jasmine Basmathi King Rice 5kg pack |
I still craved for nasi biryani since the dinner we had at Me’nate Steak Hub last
week. So this is my first attempt cooking briyani rice using rice cooker, the quick and easy way. So here
is my pack of 5kg Jasmine Basmathi King (beras basmathi) the aromatic super
long grains and less starch.

Cooking Nasi Briyani using rice cooker |
Let me show you how to cook briyani rice using rice cooker. Actually it’s quite easy, all I need is to fried
the onions, spices, condiments and ready pack biryani seasoning (options we can add meat such as chicken, lamb or beef). Then add the basmathi
rice and water. Close the lid and set to cook.
Ayam Percik Indonesia |
Thai Mango Salad |
Tepung Pelita usually only available during Ramadan |
While the rice is cooking, I get ready the dishes and set the
table. I had Ayam Percik Indonesia, Ayam Goreng Berempah, Ikan Kunyit, Thai Mango Salad, Tepung Pelita, dates and some fruits. I guess this is more than enough
dinner for 2 persons.
Nasi Briyani |
Tadah! my nasi briyani turned out to be slightly brownish due to the
excessive spices but nevertheless it’s rich in flavours just the way we like it.
The briyani rice texture is firm on the outside, soft inside and won’t break
when I stirred. The grain is longer than the normal rice and dry so it goes
well with a little bit of gravy.
The dinner tonight was ready in less than 1 hour and without much
hassle in the kitchen. I love the appetizing thai mango salad with the
combination of ayam percik gravy and biryani rice. Overall, enjoy eating at
home and trying out new recipe. May be I shall be more adventurous to cook different
types of rice using the beras basmathi.

We always eat rice for every meal. We cannot eat a meal without rice it seems. These special rice not too much though, maybe only for special occasions.
ReplyDeleteThe rice we have been using ever since is a Jasmine rice. I'm just not sure if it's the same rice as the one you featured here. We, Asians, are really used to eating rice with meals that is why I worry when I travel to the other part of the world, I might find it hard. I don't think I'd survive with just bread and pasta. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteWow, did you cook all these yourself? Haha, the long rice is very fragrant and different from the usual jasmine rice we eat...
ReplyDeleteWe are rice eaters, too. Like you, I can do without it for a few days, but I will be craving for it after a while.
ReplyDeleteThe Philippines is a rice-nation too. A meal isn't complete without rice ( although I have been trying to cut down on it ) ... I can imagine though how this spread must be so good. I love Biryani Rice. I even have mine with butter. I ate a lot of Nasi Briyani when I was in KL. I like it a lot :)
ReplyDeleteNice!!! Looks so fast and easy to prepare! We are big rice eaters in my family too!
ReplyDeleteI am too familiar about Jasmine rice. That we we have in our table. however, the price is much higher than locally-milled rice.
ReplyDeleteWish we had this brand in the Philippines as well! I'm so obsessed with Basmati, it's like the best rice ever! Haha! :)
ReplyDeleteI used Jasmine basmathi rice before when I worked in Dubai City. The fullness and smoothness in texture are truly the best especially with khabsah.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of variety in this meal. It looks well prepared and delicious too.
ReplyDeleteBasmati for the win! I have tried this rice in my cousins house (who marry a Muslim). Though Jasmine rice is a lot chewier, with more of a fruity taste, and Basmati taste grassier to me. But all in all, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm not good at cooking basmati rice, no matter how much I try I can never get it to cook right. :(
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of jasmine rice, but my family really like it. was really interesting to see how different countries prepare there ingredients.
ReplyDeleteWe are using jasmine rice at home, but lately I am reducing my rice intake so I can lose some weight.
ReplyDeleteI always love delicious and fragrant rice -- specially basmati jasmine rice.
