Few weeks ago I discovered quite a unique charity concept store, White Elephant, Retail for Charity at Publika, Solaris Dutamas. It is the charity arm of British India and a joint CSR project with UEM Sunrise. All proceeds from outlet to be disbursed to deserving charities and marginalized communities in Malaysia. Well, this charity outlet reflects a tasteful, simple elegance of BritishIndia with decorations and fixtures sourced from its stores in Malaysia and Singapore.

I like the interior deco, something like this pretty white rattan bird cages, faux trees and old-style rattan chests lending a cheerful and inspiring reminder to respect nature and be kind to the environment, the store exudes a slightly rustic but youthful charm with colourful elephant art on walls and dressing room curtains.

What can you find in White Elephant? Well, this is a unique place and shoppers’ haven as we sell a plethora of goods from inventory samples and production over-runs from BritishIndia as well as other well-known clothing brands to eclectic merchandise such as books, toys, sports equipment, musical instruments, kitchenware, stationery, hobbycraft, small furniture, objets d’art, curiosities and paraphernalia, donated by the expatriate and local community.

Look and search you may find some jewel at a great bargain. All the clothes are new, never-before-worn and in good condition. I bought a scarf skirt for about RM7 only. If you are looking for some vintage items you might want to check them out on your next visit to Publika. Buy at a good price and at the same time do some good deeds.
