Review: Baci Italian Café @ Citta Mall

Hey! Found another cozy Italian café that serves good coffee and cafe / deli food in quiet neighborhood. The cafe decor is quite European style but in a simpler, homely and relax way. Well, I have visited Baci Italian Café at Citta Mall a few times for their coffee and cakes before my movie at MBO Cinemas or catch up with my friends. This is my first time having dinner at that café, to my surprise their pasta is good and most of my friends said their oxtail stew is awesome.

This is my favourite dish that I tried that day. The pasta is slightly spicy (aglio olio) with some tangy lemon and thanks to their generous amount of smoked duck breast, sautéed cherry tomatoes, spinach & fresh shiitake mushrooms. The portion is moderate and satisfying.

The bread is good! There are a few types of homemade bread available like ciabatta, focaccia, multigrain, sourdough and wholegrain. You can also buy the bread. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich comes with grilled slices of chicken breast marinated with Baci special spiced sauce with hints of cumin, spicy sauce and chilli flakes served with fresh romaine, tomato slices and onions between homemade ciabatta spread with wholegrain mustard mayo.

Well, I find this chicken & mushroom pie so so only. It looks big but when I dig in the filling not much, mostly is potato and carrots with bits of chicken and mushrooms. The pastry is not quite good though.

This Oxtail Stew looks promising to me but I can’t eat beef so hmmm… According my friends this is awesome & classic. I do agree because I saw a few customers also ordered this dish. Quite a generous portion and according to the chef this dish took about 4 hours cooking time slow stew with carrots, celery and juicy oxtail in flavourful beef stock. It is served with warm garlic mash potato and a slice of toasted Tuscan bread.

This pizza is good for sharing and not too bad. Thumbs up for the hand tossed thin crust base. This is a 9” pizza with deliciously rich beef / chicken bolognese, fresh cubes of capsicum and arugula on a bed of melted mozzarella cheese.
