Monki
joins forces with Plan International, supporting their global campaign Because
I am a Girl. Starting 4th September 2014, RM2 for every tote bag
sold at Monki will go to Plan’s work for all girls’ rights to an education.
Tote bags are a Monki tradition; the Scandinavian fashion brand is well known
for offering one of a kind print or slogan bags, making the tote the natural
choice to spearhead this collaboration.
Targeting
women’s education in the world’s poorest countries, Because I am a Girl is a
global campaign based on the idea that if you change the future of a single
girl, you can change the future of her entire community. The project aims high:
at least nine years of education for all girls in the world.
Globally,
1 in 5 adolescent girls around the world is denied an education by the daily
realities of poverty, violence and discrimination. We know that one of the most
powerful measures we have against poverty is helping girls go to school.
With
more than 85 shops in nine European countries, Japan, China and Malaysia, and
an online store that delivers to 18 European countries, Monki has grown
steadily since it was founded in 2006. Monki is owned by H&M.
