Tokyo Street Earth Month

As summer descends, we celebrate the warm and humid season in Tokyo Street Earth Month and Mother Nature. As you walk toward Tokyo Street, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur you will be greeted with ambiance décor full of greeneries made of paper to emulate the season of outdoor activities and fun in Japan. There are some creative masterpieces created using recycle materials on display.

Tokyo Street Earth Month with Raffles College

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with Raffles College of Higher Education, brings you the ‘Go Green Student Competition’. With the theme ‘Return to Nature’ and inspiration from Japanese elements to raise the awareness of preserving and restoring Mother Nature, 9 groups of students from majors like Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing & Management, Visual Communication, Interior Design and Jewellery Design created their very own masterpiece using recyclable items.

You can view and admire their creative Japanese inspired artwork and vote for you favourites. The winners will be announced on the 29th of June 2014 with great prizes to be won. Oh ya, you can redeem a bottle of marimo ball from our Concierge with RM150 spent at Tokyo Street.

The Origami Bird

The Origami Bird shows a depiction of mankind’s selfish, ignorant and inconsiderate disposal of waste that causes the death of innocent birds than mistaken the waste for food. From Fashion Marketing & Management.

The Katara

The Katara infuses Japanese motifs from the Bushi Armor, Japanese fan designs and woodblock painting to create a necklace using recycled metal brass, acrylic pieces and paper. From Jewellery Design.

Zen Garden

Zen Garden infuses elements of trees and the popular Sakura flower to make a beautiful necklace using brass sheet for the main design with origami flowers made of recycled paper as the extra detailing. From Jewellery Design.

Please

Please paints the glaring reality of the situation of Earth whereby 75% of the earth is being destroyed by human selfish activities such as illegal logging, open burning and etc. Using recycle items such as old rusted metal, old bottles, cans, wood and an few others, ‘Please’ creates an art installation showing the stark difference between the causes of destruction and the benefits of reconstruction. Recycle Sushi

Recycle Sushi with its hauntingly true tagline, ‘What Goes into the Ocean, Goes into you’ highlights the problem of disposal of waste especially non-biodegradable items such as plastic materials into the ocean which causes contamination of our marine wildlife and then eventually, harming mankind as well. With that, its artwork emulates our favourite sushi using plastic bags, Styrofoam and old boxes. From Fashion Marketing & Management.

Resource.Life

Resource.Life is a dramatic depiction of the state of Earth whereby it is bleeding at its core due to the demand of natural resources that exceeds 30% more resources than earth can replenish. From Interior Design.

Green Dessert

Green Dessert is a unique three tier art installation that tells a story of hope for the future. The first tier that has images of people engaging in outdoor activities into the second tier that shows a mock of the stores that we have at Pavilion with a recycle icon and lastly is tree which is what we need to preserve Mother Nature. From Visual Communication.

Rebirth

Rebirth depicts the life cycle of a crane from an egg to an adult and it questions the number of cranes that are able to live through the entire cycle as it has been listed as endangered wildlife. The main causes of the near extinction of these cranes are due to loss of habitat, poisoning due to gran treated with pesticides and other human activities. From Visual Communication.

The White Recycle Bag Dress

The White Recycle Bag Dress as its name states is a garment sewn using recyclable plastic with designs inspired by Japanese elements. Its two-piece garment and shape design is inspired by the traditional samurai armour while its shoulder technique is inspired the Japenese shrines and lastly its unique pattern is inspired by the Kitsune mask.
