Roasters Chicken Run 2014 @ Sunway Lagoon

Chicken Run Day! Last Sunday morning, Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR) and Malaysians did it again as 3,800 runners of all ages came together at Sunway Lagoon for a Charity Run the 10th ROASTERS Chicken Run event. This charity run managed to raise RM65,000 funds for the Little Yellow Flower Foundation.

The Kenny Rogers Roasters Chicken Run 2014 @ Sunway Lagoon was graced by Sinje Lee, Malaysia’s very own international celebrity and co-founder of Little Yellow Flower foundation as well as Malaysia renowned composer-singer and artist volunteer of Little Yellow Flower foundation, Ms Yise Loo. The Little Yellow Flower (previously, Hope Education Foundation) was founded in 2007 by international artistes, Valen Hsu, Gigi Leung, Charlie Yeung and Malaysia’s very own, Sinje Lee. The vision of this charity is to provide underprivileged children with the opportunity of a better future through love, happiness, good nutrition and a better education. Little Yellow Flower provides impoverished, inner-city children of Kuala Lumpur, nourishment and extra-curricular education with the aim to break them out of poverty as they grow up.

The fund will specifically go to the ‘Nutrition, Lunch and Tuition’ programme, targeted to benefit urban families which are living in poverty. Impoverished families living in urban areas still exist in Malaysia, many of which do not earn enough to support a wholesome diet for the children. KRR will also provide KRR wholesome meals once every two months for a year to the children under this foundation. KRR will also be providing more reading materials and books to the “Reading Wonderland” programme under the Little Yellow Flower. The Reading Wonderland is essentially a community library and information resource for underprivileged children to develop a love for reading and self-enrichment.

In previous years, the ROASTERS Chicken Run has successfully raised more than RM500,000 for a variety of charitable organizations and homes such as Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit HUKM, Pediatric Unit HUKM (Oncology), Unit TUTUR – Aural Rehabilitation Centre for Hearing Impaired Children together with Yayasan Budi Peyayang Malaysia and House of Joy and Faith, Yayasan Sunbeams Home, Rumah Juara, Rumah Kanak-kanak Tengku Budriah, Rumah Sayangan, Malaysian National Kidney Foundation – Dialysis Treatment for the Young, Rumah Hope, Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam, Rumah Charis Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, and Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit PPUKM – Young Diabetic Patients.

The ROASTERS Chicken Run 2014 was made possible with the support from the co-organiser, Sunway Lagoon.
