Ichi da Ichi ei! There will be four different Japanese drum groups; Wadaiko Syo (1^st taiko group in Malaysia), Wadaiko Hiryu (renowned drum group in Japan), Wadaiko Subaru (1^st kids taiko group in Malaysia) and Wadaiko Khi (Malaysian taiko drummers) will performance for Wadaiko Syo 8^th Anniversary at KL Pac this coming 17^th and 18^th May 2014 at 8pm and 3pm respectively. Wadaiko is a traditional Japanese instrument used mainly during the performance of Japanese Gagaku, a traditional Japanese music.

Wadaiko Syo

The Wadaiko Syo was founded by Nakanishi Takayuki San whom was originated from Osaka, he started learning Wadaiko more than 16 years ago and has also played professionally as a Wadaiko drummer. Nakanishi San migrated to Malaysia 10 years ago in pursuit of a career as a salesman for a free Japanese newspaper advertising company in hope of starting life anew. However, he couldn’t put aside his passion for Wadaiko even after leaving his homeland. So with the help of his student Chong Chiew Seek, he founded the very first taiko centre in Malaysia, WadaikoSyo which is now based at PusatPerdagangan Seri Kembangan. He now has more than 20 students and has started Wadaiko Subaru whichtaiko kids group in year 2011.

Wadaiko Syo

Another Wadaiko group performing along side Wadaiko Syo is Wadaiko Hiryu, both groups are very similar in background as their mentor Minehide San is also the teacher of Nakanishi San. Wadaiko Hiryu is founded by Minehide San in the year 1998. This classical Japanese dance is also one of the many talents and passions of Minehide San. He works towards incorporating traditional Japanese music giving it a modern twist transforming it into an elegant masterpiece .Wadaiko Hiryu also actively participates in countless events and festivals within Japan and abroad.
