Time passed so fast, I still remember when I was young my mum took
me to The Body Shop store and now I continue to visit and use The Body Shop
products till today. Congratulations to The Body Shop, celebrating its 30th
years in Malaysia and empowering women to reach for their greater height. I am
proud that The Body Shop celebrates International Women’s Day differently. It’s
time to redefine beauty, debunk the myths and create new metrics when talking
about what it takes to be beautiful. We, women need to Be More Than Beautiful… we
need to have substance and be able to inspires others.
Society considers as beautiful the usual stereotype or celebrity
hood type, we need to encourage people to celebrate women of substance who are
made up of qualities worth pursuing like Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, Dato’
Ambiga Sreenevasan, Ivy Josiah and Zainah Anwar. These women are true
celebrities who are More Than Beautiful; women who have worked to make a
difference in a real way.
True heroes, Zainah, Ambiga, Marina and Ivy are just some examples
of women who have fought hard for the empowerment of women, gender equality,
fairness and justice in democracy as well as to activate self esteem; values
that are solidly within The Body Shop DNA, their efforts and courage to fight
for something they believe in Malaysian women.
Joining in de-bunking the stereotype of what beauty really is our
radio partner, Capital FM, who will be airing Public Service Announcements from
these key opinion leaders as part of their programming. All women and men to
celebrate International Women’s Day can share what it means to Be More Than
Beautiful via Facebook or Twitter #bemorethanbeautiful. In return, The Body
Shop will send an e-shopping voucher to all respondents.
